🗳️VOTE UNION! 🗳️ Have you checked out our SEIU 1021 November General Election voter guide yet?

Union members have a key role to play in this election to protect public services and our democracy! We must lead this charge by voting, showing up, and spreading the word.

Members across Northern California in our Committee on Political Education (COPE) interviewed dozens of candidates and ballot measure proponents and opponents.

SEIU 1021 endorsements are decided by OUR MEMBERS and are compiled in the SEIU 1021 Voter Guide. Be sure to follow the SEIU 1021 Voter Guide to elect worker champions and support ballot measures that will keep our communities a safe place for all and protect our jobs.

While we face unprecedented threats at the national level, we are also fighting harmful candidates and legislation right here in California.

Voting is a powerful way we can make our voices heard!

Vote Yes on Measure P in Fairfield. Seen here SEIU 1021 members —getting out the vote — this weekend for Measure P. by @seiu1021

Election Day is tomorrow—have you voted yet?

SEIU 1021 proudly endorses Jennifer Brouhard for Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Board District 2 and Valarie Bachelor for District 6. Both candidates offer a proven record of commitment to Oakland’s students, staff, educators, and working families.

Brouhard and Bachelor reflect the work OUSD members have been leading to strengthen public education in Oakland and ensure students, staff, and faculty have the resources they need to succeed. Their priorities center on a shared principle: strong public schools depend on sustainable funding and a strong workforce.

To keep making progress for our students and school community, we must maintain a majority of OUSD Board members who support a student-centered budget and a positive vision for Oakland schools.

Let's get out the vote and win for our schools and communities! by @seiu1021

Nurses are there for us when we need them, and now it’s time that we stand up and have their backs, too. Stand with Registered Nurses at Cottage Health Santa Barbara, Goleta Valley, and Rehabilitation Hospitals who are forming their union with @seiu121RN by signing their community support petition at the link in our bio. by @seiu1021

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of beloved civil rights activist and labor leader, Dolores Huerta.

Dolores spent most of her life fighting for her fellow workers and their communities. From co-founding the United Farm Workers (UFW) to supporting and encouraging up-and-coming labor leaders and causes even into her 90s, her advocacy and efforts changed the lives of countless Latino farm workers and millions of workers across the country.

In a moment when many United States politicians and civic leaders have taken a collective step backward, targeting immigrants, Black and brown communities, women’s rights and the trans community, we want to center her tireless commitment to the labor movement and to ensuring that workers are treated with dignity and respect, her vocal support for voting rights, immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental justice.

Some may try to soften her image and make it more palatable, but let us not forget—she was a fighter.

She advocated for all, not just the few. This is real leadership.

Dolores Huerta helped pave the way for our union's work and the critical fight for workers' and human rights we refuse to back down from. ¡Sí Se Puede!

We are eternally grateful.

Rest in power.

In solidarity,
Theresa Rutherford

Measure K will produce Rohnert Park resources for Rohnert Park services. $5.5 million, all 100% locally controlled.

This is what SEIU 1021 member Jesse Aquino, who works as a Rohnert Park Custodian, said: "Measure K brings our sales tax in line with Cotati, Santa Rosa, Sonoma, and Petaluma. Every dollar stays local, controlled here in Rohnert Park, funding the services that keep this community safe, clean, and healthy."

Rohnert Park has a budget shortfall, but residents shouldn't bear the brunt of it. We need to protect emergency response times, clean drinking water, road and park maintenance, and the services this community depends on. by @seiu1021

On Thursday, October 22, City College of San Francisco students, faculty, classified professionals, elected officials, and community supporters rallied in the rain for the City College Our Students Deserve.

AFT 2121, SEIU 1021, and their allies are calling for CCSF’s GrowSF-backed Board of Trustees to bargain in good faith and address chronic understaffing, safety concerns, and underfunded programs.

Billionaire-backed GrowSF is gaining influence in San Francisco politics, including at CCSF, where its supported candidates currently hold a board majority.

As San Francisco’s largest provider of workforce training and higher education, CCSF prepares workers for essential careers. Yet staffing shortages and the high cost of living threaten its programs, despite six consecutive years of budget surpluses and more than $70 million in reserves.

These shortages are a policy choice, not an inevitability.

CCSF’s future depends on a board that prioritizes students and workers over billionaire campaign backers and invests in the staffing and resources the college needs. by @seiu1021

Rain? What rain? Following months of stalled negotiations, we joined thousands of @seiu1000 workers for the largest state worker strike in our state’s history! Talk about #unionstrong💪🏽

Despite the wet weather, the streets of Downtown Sacramento were full of purple as union members exercised their right to strike.

We stand in solidarity with state workers as they continue to fight for a fair contract! by @seiu1021

Our siblings @seiu1000 are on the picket line and we are out in force across Northern California to support them! Here in Oakland, Shop Steward Donte Hollowell took the mic and told the hundreds in attendance “We have to remember, and we have to make sure our employers remember: these rights were not handed to us out of the kindness of anybody’s heart. The living wage, the healthcare, the eight-hour day, the weekend: every one of them was fought for by working people standing on lines just like this one. And today we’re reminding them what it looks like when labor says ENOUGH!” by @seiu1021
