POSTS STORIES REELS

This video is mainly for me and my memories . This caption is for you if you’re new here and want to know a bit of my story.

When I was 19 I started to finally take my mental health seriously. I was a junior at Rutgers New Brunswick, it was my first year there since I transferred from UCC. I can remember thoughts of wanting to run away or cause physical harm to myself as early as 6 years old. No one knew because I was that A+ student who tried to radiate positivity and was so involved in extra curriculars.

When I was commuting to Rutgers that first semester, I would take the train to and from Linden. Eventually, my urges to jump in front of the train were too strong- sometimes my mom or bf at the time started having to drive me to class when they could (I was prone to swerving on the road back then). While all of that was very difficult I’m glad it led me to therapy and more specifically DBT which included mindfulness as well as Yoga.

As life goes, I got better for some time until I got worse again. Without treatment, I found myself having ineffective relationships, multiple panic attacks a month and waves of depression coming and going being masked by overeating, busyness and boys. So I found a therapist again, was doing well for sometime, finally accepted anti depressants but my external chaos was too strong, my internal crumbled and i stopped myself from trying to take my life in August of 2019, one week before starting my full time teaching career. Again, I entered treatment and have since stayed generally consistent with therapy and medicine … it’s these last 4 years that I have been finding my footing in a healthier more consistent way.

Here I am 10 years later, teaching mindfulness based workshops, movement and yoga at college campuses for other adults. I still have my days, but overall, I’m in a better space.

Hosting workshops, retreats and private sessions is one of my biggest joys. This is where I can take the years of teaching experience in public schools, mix it with my passion and knowledge of yoga / wellness / mindfulness and deliver it to people that are actually interested and excited to learn. I’m currently working on a menu booklet of all of my offerings and I look forward to having that available for you all. Whether it’s for your yoga/ movement studio, corporate, professional development in the school system, clubs, or even just you getting together with your friends and family- as well as private 1 on 1 or couples sessions … this is the work that I really thrive in offering. Stay tuned 💕 #mindfulness #yoga #selfloveis by @self.love.is

I may have not posted on my @self.love.is account in 4 years but I haven’t stopped Self Lovin! If anything, in these last 4 years I have done more work on self than since starting the hashtag #selfloveis in 2015.

Very proud to have been invited to host a mindfulness workshop for Newark Board of Education at their Counselor and Guidance Department’s March 5th Conference. The topic was “Maximizing your capability to support your students”. I offered breathing techniques, chair yoga, mindfulness exercises, diy yoga eye pillow activity and above all my love and insight.

Very proud that my small business is making bigger moves after being a bit dormant for some time. Thank you for the support.

So, what does Self Love look like to you? #selfloveis #mindfulness #entrepreneur by @self.love.is

Self. When I came back from Thailand in April my mental health had plummeted once again .. and again I got myself out of those dark places that I get sucked into at times. I’ve been on my meds and in therapy consistently since June and I started to go to the gym in October. Since my birthday I’m 3% down in body fat percentage and have started to take on some yoga classes once again. I’m slowly putting my footing back into the things that fuel me with a sense of purpose. With that being said I am so proud to share that I will be trying to actively post on @self.love.is once again and have a huge gig with my small business this Tuesday! I will be hosting a professional development workshop for Newark Board of Ed … as a former public school teacher myself I really empathize and see the need for mindfulness based PD that is enjoyable and feels rewarding in a system that is often under gratified. So stay tuned for some posts on that! I’m going to try to be active a bit more regarding my yoga classes, pole practice progression and small business moments. Revving the engine, now! #selflove #selfloveis by @self.love.is

LOVE. I spent the last year building on my relationship with my partner and his kids. My energy was less focused on making moves and more focused on the well being of our home unit. Family is an interesting concept- you have your immediate family that you were born into and then you create your own.. this last year my mom missed me a lot, im trying to do better to spend more time with her because I enjoy to, my sister and I have been steady since I got back which is great, i don’t have pics with my dad but I’ve been able to spend time with him while working for him here and there. And then there is my chosen family - Tippy, Bryce and Maddy. We are so blessed to have a protector and provider like Tip and he reminds me how grateful he is to have me there for the kids. Being in this role is interesting.. I wonder if I will be as mindful with my bio kids one day as I am with Maddy & Bryce. I find myself always overthinking on if I’m serving them in the best way possible. I find myself missing them a lot on days they are not with us. I find myself feeling guilty at times as well as stuck when my role at times limits me from making decisions for their behalf- and those are the moments where I find myself needing to tap back into self love- into compassion and acceptance for what is, and balance my energy back into the parts that I can control. I love them so much, and pray they are showered with endless love in their entire lifetime from all directions, always. … and then there is my hulkie boy lol he is part of both families lol my almost 10 year old boy… 🩷 by @self.love.is

I am a day late in posting my anniversary post… every year I post “self love is” … 7 years ago now I committed to self love full on … packed by bags and went to Thailand for my yoga teacher cert .. this time last year I celebrated my anniversary in Thailand again .. and a month later I was able to be there with my love and do something I’ve always wanted to do but never felt audacious enough here in the states to do it… stand up comedy! A lot of these jokes are particular to KPG living … but performing in front of random people from all over the world in one of my favorite vegan restaurants on the island and actually having a few laughs felt pretty awesome. I was def nervous af but self love is about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone at times to discover how different layers of our being react or respond under pressure and then meeting those findings with grace. It took a year to post this video of my first stand up and this is how I continue to show up for myself thru the discomfort with grace. by @self.love.is

Brianna: watch this when you don’t feel centered anymore. Do nothing but watch this while breathing soft. Loving kindness - if u fell it’s okay- we have goals to reach, people to inspire and help and Source to connect to. “Just do it” just 1 thing. 5,4,3,2,1 by @self.love.is

Just an update to align my feed while also keeping a memory for myself in my non linear, for life recovery . Pray for your girl- going back to full time teaching tomorrow morning. by @self.love.is

At the local Open Mic night that I host I decided to continue with transparency& ending stigma of mental health.. I used DBT interpersonal effectiveness skill: DEARMAN . This skill is to get your needs and wants met so I spoke to a future self that may relapse in her illness - I was diagnosed Major Depressive and Borderline Personality Disorder. I was sent to Rutgers Behavioral Health Emergency Room 3 times in the last 2 months. I was hospitalized twice and spent nearly 3 weeks inpatient. I started my new job as a full time high school teacher as soon as I got out of hospital and symptoms were so strong I was readmites after 3 days. I am currently in an outpatient program and on leave of absence from work. This work includes Coaching Marching band, my new full time job, and yoga instruction. I’ve come to realize that while I am hyper mindful of ever being a victim of substance abuse - I am an addict in my own way. Like many women, I am addicted to doing too much. The superwoman @bripirro you have applauded for years and either stood by or dismissed when she was having panic attacks/ disassociation/ hosting events/ sharing via social media / etc has once again come to a burn out. Still I feel I haven’t hit rock bottom, but I’m learning in recovery that rock bottom isn’t necessary - no matter how many times I need to re-enter treatment - I am worth being alive, being loved, and I need to stop caring so much about what others think of me. I do not need your approval. I need mine. by @self.love.is

Some things work for some people and some things don’t- it’s all choice. I really believe in listening to your intuition- if you have integrity and connection with your higher self - the moments where you truly feel you should push yourself a little harder will whisper into your ears and hit and you should listen. But I think it’s no very wise to just follow the crowd or go along for the sake a feeling pressured - even if it’s not for a harmful thing. I hope we can stay true to ourselves without the extra noise and made up reasons we create to try and justify behavior that isn’t actually our truth. And well- if u do happen to do something out of your character or divine intuition, it’s not a L for loss but for Lesson - meet yourself with kindness, life is full of those lessons along the way - we can’t beat ourselves up for choosing- it’s our divine power. #smallbusiness#mindfulnesss#yoga#meditation#reiki#intenSati#cardio#fitness#spirituality#love#dance#vegan#smile#selflove#selflovegardeners#magic#beautiful#gratitude#manifest#prayer#light#peace#business#blessings#yogi#vinyasa#consciousness #arbonne#arbonne30daystohealthyliving by @self.love.is
