Supporting and motivating Actors to tell the story the best they can in their selftapes. Audition coaching, technical support and early career consult

POSTS STORIES REELS

Film festivals are in full swing! Take advantage of showing up, being your authentic self and build relationships 🙏🏾

As you continue in your career you'll realize a good portion of your opportunities will be from relationships you've built through the years.

So plant those seeds and cultivate them. As you work on your craft and grow, those seeds will bear fruit down the line. ✨

Stay ready so you don't have to get ready 💯

Make it a habit of sharpening your skill set when it comes to auditioning.

Reading TV/Film scripts, plays, working on your self-tape setup so you're more efficient (unless you have a dedicated space/room then God bless you ‼️), putting yourself on tape without an audition...

...don't be the actor scrambling when you get that email from your agent or a cmail saying please get us this 2 scene opportunity in less than 48 hours 😳

Let's go!

Imagine two people telling you the same heartbreaking story:

Person A is sobbing, loud, wiping tears every other second.
Person B is holding it together, fighting back tears, pushing through to get the words out.

Who moves you more? 😢

Nine times out of ten, it’s Person B.
Because when someone tries to stay composed, it makes us feel the weight of what they’re carrying even more. The viewer will empathize, put themselves in your shoes.

This is the same energy your on-camera work should have. When you connect to the truth of the moment, the audience isn’t just watching you, they're with you.

Cry or don’t cry. That’s not the point. Make us care. 💙

𝙏𝙀𝘾𝙃 𝙏𝙄𝙋 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑶𝑹𝑺 💡🚀

Real talk: if you’re still deleting apps and old videos just to squeeze in one more take, you’re working harder than you need to. You feel me, don’t you? 😭

You already juggle enough. Free yourself from that “storage full” chaos and make space to actually focus on the scene.

I live by my blue SSD drive. 💙 Check out my self-tape equipment list and get you one of these bad boys! 🔗🔗🔗

You’re wondering: "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝑰 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆...𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏?" I’ll tell you.

After your first take, if you look back at your sides and don’t ask yourself any questions about what’s happening… you’re relying on memorization instead of your character’s memory.

You keep forgetting lines because you’ve practiced remembering them — instead of living them.

Instead, connect to the moment:

💎 What do you want?
💎 What are you really trying to say?
💎 What do you need from the person you’re talking to?
💎 Where are you, in this environment?
💎 What’s the history between you two leading up to this moment?

When you start answering these questions and more, the lines stick because they’re no longer “lines.” They’re you, as the character, living in the scene. You'll be surprised how much of the lines you know.

Let's get it! 💪🏾

Couldn't have said it any better 💯

Knowing your lines is definitely the standard but knowing your character and the story your telling is what makes the lines come alive.

It's understood that it's an audition and not the actual final product but the approach is to tell a story as your character so well and with such specificity, unique to you, where decision makers feel they can almost pluck you from your tape and put you on set. ✨

An associate casting director during a panel discussion:

On average, we receive 550–700* submissions per role. From that number, we narrow it down to about 50 actors we ask to audition. From there, it goes to 10–12 for a callback, and then down to 1–3 to send to producers/directors/network.”

That means EVERY role is important because only one person can play a given role. 🙏🏾💯

Perfect recall of the lines. Perfect use of punctuation. Perfect rehearsed moments.

These do not automatically equate to a great (booking worthy) self-tape.

Live beyond the lines, dig deep. A human with flaws, imperfections, confidence, doubt...that's interesting to watch. Otherwise, you'd be AI 🫣

Serve the story 💯

CO-STAR roles aren't an exercise in showing your range.

Get in the door with early co-stars BUT

continue to train and prepare for the heavy lifting that's to come. 💪🏾

Understand the difference ✨
