Much love to @carlangelomusic for truly activating the people and creating a space for our stories to come together. This verse was written after sharing space with @carlangelomusic @rogervst @dahlaymusic and many other folks at the @nafconwashington Typhoon Relief Benefit Concert where community raised over $10,000 toward relief efforts. At the show, I met Kuya Max who was released earlier this year from immigrant detention in Tacoma. His release was fought for by his community, family, friends and allies. Kuya Max and his family continue to organize and support the work of @tanggolmigrantemovement and the work to protect our kababayan held in detention. Currently @tanggolmigrantemovment has shared the call to get Kuya G out of the NWDC Detention Center in Tacoma. Kuya G is currently facing alarming health concerns caused by GEO Group and ICE. All while the Philippine Consulate continues to neglect and abandon Filipino Nationals. Check out the work of @tanggolmigrantemovement and join the efforts to protect our communities! Shoutout to @carlangelomusic @rubyibarra @modernnostalgiaclub @talilomarfil @_chef_yamz_ @davidiramusic @itsmiss_aaaaa @elmer.abapo @morobeats for setting the stage worldwide 🌏 by @sendai_era
The song we chose to represent the album is called “Hand me a pen.” It’s a song that captures the influence of hip hop in our lives — through the art, the cyphers, the music, the culture, the history, and the moments of joy in our lives growing up and navigating the PNW as the children of immigrants. The sample that plays towards the middle and end of the song is from a Filipino filmmaker Lino Brocka, who used his craft to uplift the people and inspire change. One of the essential things we wanted to capture for this video was the neighborhoods that fostered our growth as artists — and fr fr @acidgarage was really able to bring that in for this video. The whole things was shot in a day… documenting the trip from Beacon Hill to the International District, with a stop over at the Jose Rizal Bridge. ✨ We are so grateful to have been able to collaborate with @acidgarage for all the visuals for our upcoming project “Kalayaan.” Stay tuned for more coming soon ✌🏽 Written, Composed, Mixed and Mastered by Sendai Era Filmed, Edited and Directed by Raul Alaris aka @acidgarage by @sendai_era
2024 marked 10 years of creating music together here in Seattle. We are so grateful for each of you who have been supporting progressive Asian American artists here in the PNW. You all have created a space and platform for us to share our stories and hopes into the world. We are forever grateful to each of you. Our latest project Harana was a testimony to the ways you’ve made space for us. The project documents our journey as we get older in this interesting time in hip hop. The song “Seattle Rain” is a dedication to our families and to the ones who’ve paid the way for us to continue to create music. We chose this song because of the nostalgic feeling held during the process of making this song. @acidgarage made sure to capture the youthful fire we had back in the day riding through Beacon Hill listening to music while we were on our way to create our own. With that, move into 2025 with the reminder that rain ensures growth is on the way. Hope you enjoy the whole video ✨🌦️ by @sendai_era

Coastline ft. @sendai_era & produced by @ojtheproducer is now available for streaming with NEW watercolor artwork by the incredible @allancarandang_art Coastline is also available for digital download on Bandcamp, with all download sales proceeds continuing to support @filamushistory206 educators. History teaches us that every people's struggle is deeply connected... and none of us are free until we all are free, from coastline to coastline. This song is grounded in that mantra. I'm honored to have the homies from Sendai Era, emcees, musicians, storytellers, activists, & educators whom I deeply admire, feature on this track with a poignant personal call-to-action to resist the systemic oppression facing our families and communities. They just released a new album called Cascade Migrant that weaves storytelling with rallying cries, and connects history to the intimate day-to-day moments of being in community. Grateful to Allan Carandang for bringing to life how interconnected we truly are throughout the diaspora. From the US to the Philippines, your people's homeland to my people's homeland, city to city, coast to coast. “Cascade Migrant” Album Release Party ❄️ Congratulations @sendai_era @sendaimike.mixing “Take Your Time” out now 🎥📸: @2sixdoes Happy Filipino American History Month 🇵🇭🇺🇸 by @sendai_era
Wrote and recorded this 2 years ago. Almost a year out of Los Angeles but not fully accustomed to Seattle. My wife was still in school and I was still working as a contract temp with no benefits. I just dropped my visual album but it didn’t pop until another year. I was still drinking and just got back in the gym. I wasn’t tapped in with FilAm Seattle just yet. This was the transitional phase. Fast forward to now, I have the privilege to be featured on @sendai_era album “Cascade Migrant” on their song “Take Some Time” and just recently performed it at their album release party this past weekend. Timing is key! Our future lives in our daily routines. As someone that patiently took my time to put in the work, pay my dues, and give back, all it takes is consistently showing up for yourself to be on the right path. Keep goin’ y’all, and keep it player along the way 💪🏽 Give ‘em somethin’ to vibe with This that Cascade Migrant!
