Honda garage day. Mine looks new compared to their 1972-73 Hondas. Vintage bikes have all the vibes. 👌 #honda #vintagemotorcycle #sony #sonyalpha #colorado by @senditsam

The first half of this year has challenged and shaped my perspective on life in many ways. Eventually I felt the need to step away from it all and seek an experience different than the one I was living. How fortunate I am to be able to do that. While sipping down a cup of coffee back in May, I impulsively purchased a plane ticket to El Salvador. I don’t even know why El Salvador. A 10 minute google search of the best places to surf in Central/South America this time of year convinced me that I would enjoy staying there for a couple of weeks. After experiencing heavy rain for several days in El Salvador, I decided to join a shuttle to Nicaragua. My 2 week trip turned into 6 weeks. I could have stayed longer, but home was calling me back… A couple of days after returning to Durango, I went backpacking in the San Juans with the goal of climbing Vestal Peak via Wham Ridge. This was the first time carrying a heavy backpack that far to accomplish a climbing goal since having my knee injury 3 years ago. Going from sea level to 13,817 ft (4200 meters) wasn’t too bad, but the mileage and difficult terrain challenged my knee. After summiting Arrow Peak, I had to turn around because my knee pain was getting worse. No Vestal Peak for me, but I’ll return someday. by @senditsam

Last week, Charlie Malone and I attempted to free climb Moonlight Buttress in a day. While we didn’t truly free climb it, we had an amazing day of climbing in an awesome place. I struggled much more than I expected I would on the climb given how much information I had prior to climbing the route and how much experience I have climbing desert cracks. It’s good to be humbled though. Plus, it’s nice to get rid of those expectations in the future when I return to Zion to climb the route again. I can’t wait. by @senditsam
