Happy National Sewing Month! What better way to kick off September than sharing the work we’re doing at Slow Stitch Detroit on FOX 2! We believe sewing is more than a skill, it’s creativity, confidence, connection, and a powerful tool for building a more sustainable future. Check out our class schedule for September & see our website for October sewing classes! Thanks to @fox2detroit for hosting us! #NationalSewingMonth #SlowStitchDetroit #SlowFashion #DetroitMakers #Sewing #SustainableFashion by @sewnbysydneyy

Earth to Earth, is a fashion showcase highlighting the relationship between the earth and our clothes. The garments are made from organic and regenerative natural fibers (@sewnbysydneyy), and the accessories are made from a denim bioplastic (@biospoke.det). The runway was followed by a live natural dye demonstration (@hawtpudding), where tee shirts from the runway were dyed in a community dye vat. @sophiaa.star opened the runway with a dynamic performance interpreting the lifecycle of a natural fiber garment. Earth to Earth was a featured event for Detroit’s Fashion Revolution Week @detroitfashionunited, and hosted by @slowstitchdetroit in collaboration with @tenacitycraft. @adamahfarmcdc provided the soil and urban farm setting.
