Forbidden love? Fated Mates? Enemies to lovers? Beast forms? What more could we ask? 🤤🥵❤️‍🔥 Just finished this watercolor character art commissioned by @nawalkerauthor for her fantasy romance book, "Cloaking Fate." This particular scene is a sneak peak from its sequel, "Revealing Fate," releasing September 1st! Don't miss it!

To create this piece, I used Orange Ice, Mastodon and Water Lily paintbrushes by @dynasty_brush (latter two pictured in second slide). Watercolor and black gouache on illustration board.

🎨COMMISSIONS OPEN! Now booking character art and fantasy portraits for 2027. Message me if interested!🎨

Finally finished her! Thank you to everyone who voted on the color for the wolf's eyes. Ice blue won over gold by the slimmest of margins! Honestly, I think both would have worked just as well, but I'm happy to put it behind me at this point. 😆 I have other projects begging to be started! You can find prints of this painting from my shop!

❤️‍🔥Now booking 2027 for new fantasy portraits! Message me today to place a deposit to hold your place on the waitlist.❤️‍🔥

I say this every time, but I think this is my favorite portrait painting yet. Even though it’s fairly simple compared to some of my other compositions, a lot of heart and soul went into making this painting and it speaks to me on a deeper level. I hope you all will enjoy it too. ❤️Tell me what you think!❤️

“The Huntress,” 15”x20” watercolor on Crescent Illustration Board.

This is the most vulnerable painting I’ve ever painted. I don’t talk about my feelings and tend to swallow pain, burying it forever. But this one went so deep, it finally came out in a painting.

The fairy kneels before the candle whose beautiful warm glow lured her, never seeing the cracks which split its foundations. Until it was too late. Until her wings were burned. The candle burns on, unaware and uncaring of the devastation it casually wrought. She kneels in sorrow, having once flown high, now wreathed in the smoke of regret. She will survive, but she is scarred.

Progress on “Hoping Over-Long.” Watercolor work in progress on Strathmore cold pressed watercolor paper.

Progress is being made on fan favorite character, Kethras from “The Gift of the Shaper,” an epic fantasy series by @dl.jennings ! Layer upon layer, getting him darker and darker. Meanwhile, I’ve removed layers from the background to make it mistier and more mysterious. (Plus, it keeps the background from competing with the character, and adds depth).

🔥If you’re interested in owning a print of this painting, you’re going to have to check out Jennings’s website for a top-secret something coming soon! 😈 https://dl-jennings.com/?fbclid=PAVERFWAVC-ZtleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mAmZkaWQWUQn8gH5CB2moF1kuukUzau44vAO-EHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDzEyNDAyNDU3NDI4NzQxNAABp-dHOcK1rcZR326ZOblegbbegQYkYPMHPssRmy2KiSjRTpZE5GQFynH-LUcB_aem_QbCV_lEJN2LEqa5VyGRl_w

Ever feel a little guilty because you use that one, very specific, tool just. Way. Too. Much?! This one little paintbrush does some seriously heavy lifting for me! 😅 When painting with watercolor, whether I'm doing long pulls, minute details, broad washes, or glazing, I'm always reaching for this dagger from the Mastodon series by @dynasty. Sometimes I need the bigger versions, depending on the space that needs to be covered, but this little one is used most by a long shot. (No, they didn't pay me to say this. I just love it that much).

I wish I could have gotten this little dragon done in time for Threshing Day! It’s one of those just-because-I wanted-to drawings that gets back-burnered constantly by more important projects. But since the main characters for the Fourth Wing films have been announced, I’m soooo in a dragon mood! I’m also over halfway through the new Threshing Day book and loving it.

❤️‍🔥What do you think of the picks to play Violet and Xaden??? Love them or hate them? Comment below!❤️‍🔥

Work in progress! “Hoping Over-long.” A woman sleeps cradling a fading candle, unaware that her hair has also caught fire. A story of not letting go.
