![Communication was one thing, but conversation? Neva lackin 😂 Yappers since day one ✊🏽💯 It was always easy for me to talk story with Torche. Came naturally from the day we met [and yet I struggled to communicate pressing issues in the early stages, how ironic yeah😆]. We instantly bonded over alcohol and it became our 'thing', it became what I thought connected us since that's what we spent most of our time doing.
We met under the influence, did every rebellious thing you can think of as teenagers who were so 'in love' 😅 Then we got married and the pattern repeated. I never realized while I was in it, how much we built what we thought was a solid foundation on something so unstable... until it crumbled [and I'm thankful it did so God could do His redemptive works within us].
Most of our early memories were late nights, beer bonding, or sneaking out. Supah awkward trying to enjoy each other's company sober. "Wth was even that?! Lol." We didn't always have God as our foundation, and I will never pretend I didn't live a life before Him. But now? Better than ever. Who are we without Him? Raggedy 🥴
The ones most affected was the kids. And that is a testimony I am willing to dive into next. Thank yall for sticking around 🥲💛 by @shanalisashines](https://scontent-iad3-2.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.82787-15/868442795_18188999338420102_5651741321130092881_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_s640x640_tt6&_nc_cat=105&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiQ0xJUFMuYmVzdF9pbWFnZV91cmxnZW4uQzMifQ%3D%3D&_nc_ohc=ja31I2x3kF4Q7kNvwEdBH-2&_nc_oc=Adq_FUA-0cLBOWzEq1TO01en6YSvimGcEdreYWYfEk1WiDZGg1JEA-3g42_JfFt1baFQ3hiGj32-CGxanA8fl0t9&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-iad3-2.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=WBdH3_Ixmj8LDg3ptMXgrg&_nc_ss=70689&oh=00_AQQbpAdQmdw9Pn7BcjTHQnn558bQknd7LkIgjtnnc1_fEg&oe=6AF1779A)
![Funny how I was taught to confront tough conversations from a young age yet in marriage it showed up the opposite 😅 In our earlier years, it seemed easier for me to confide in everyone else with the rough parts EXCEPT to the main character. Went through the "walking on eggshells" phase for a solid year around 2015/2016. If I started drinking and had emotions bottled up... by the end of the night? BEEF lol. Fractured my hands TWICE from punching walls -7/10 don't recommend lol 😬 It would always start out a good night... then end in shambles. I can laugh about it now but at the time it was outrageous okay real dramatic running down da street barefoot kine 🥴
Our communication grew a lot better as the years went on. But SOBRIETY SUPERSEDES every other way we've tried. Sobriety with Jesus taught me how to communicate with love and timing while reminding me of the principles my parents already embedded. Within that, we've been able to confront harder truth's as they come, like alcoholism and the brutal effects it had in our marriage. Where God's glory shines the most is how we've been able trust one another like never before and create safety in expression with each other [no matter how hard the topic can be]. God continues to repair the breach with His grace through sobriety cheehuu love my Savior forevaaa 🫂😭
