I promised a round 2 because you all loved my first 5 rules. So here we go!!

There are a few things I promised myself when I opened the doors of my salon.
🎉 I would NOT let it get toxic.
🧚‍♀️ No one owes me anything. I am there to help them all be better versions of themselves.

Here are some values that truly work.

1. Come as you are. My staff done have to be done up to the nines every day. We work long hours on a job that can be emotionally and physically draining. My wardrobe rules are this: Dress for your personality. Don't wear pajamas or nipple tassels. (In other words, don't look like you rolled out of bed and keep it PG.) We all have our own style, and each style says who we are as individuals, and I celebrate that.

2. You CAN get your hair done during your working/salon hours. Yes, it's at a cost to me but it's another one of those things that the stylists know and understand, and it comes back to me tenfold in their willingness to help out whenever is needed. If we are free and time allows, we might as well pamper each other.

3. Bring the kids. Clients, bring the kids. Stylists, if you need.....bring the kids. Life throws us curve balls. I have a glitter wall, a mirror ball, a private room, and a million mannequin heads to keep them busy. If they need to be bribed, I have treats. And if I am free, I will play with them or cuddle them. Kids are joyful. If they are well-behaved, they are always welcome. After all, if they love it here, they will be lifelong clients someday, too

4. Non gendered pricing. It's the only way to go. You need a short haircut, a long haircut, or a clipper cut. It's not about how you were born it's about how much hair is on your head and how long it takes us to cut and style it. Come one, come all. We love every single one of you.

5. You have to know the fundamentals of everything; if you want to niche, dig deep and build that empire. However, if I (or any stylist) unexpectedly has to leave the salon for some reason, you better believe we can save each other's butts.

This one is a hard one to write.

Hairdresser burnout is a very real thing, and it doesn't happen overnight.

It starts with squeezing in "just one more client." Answering messages after hours. Skipping lunch. Staying late. Putting everyone else's needs before your own. (Because that's the kind of people we are.)

As hairdressers, we care deeply about our clients—but constantly giving without protecting our own time and energy isn't sustainable. We see a lot of things in our clients lives, both amazing and sometimes very ugly. We absorb that while simultaneously making you feel like the best version of yourselves.

Setting boundaries doesn't make us less passionate. It makes our career more sustainable.

AND I'M TERRIBLE AT IT!!!!!

I keep reminding myself of these things:
✨ It's okay to have business hours. ✨ It's okay to say no to last-minute appointments.

✨ It's okay to charge what your time and expertise are worth. (Again.....I'm terrible at this.)

✨ It's okay to take days off without feeling guilty.
The best version of me (or any hairdresser) behind the chair is one that's rested, healthy, and inspired—not running on empty.

I have been feeling majorly burned out lately. That being said I am doing better at taking a day to myself here and there but it's not enough. I need to balance the in salon life. There is one in salon boundary that I am putting in place that is going to be very hard for me to keep.

PRE-BOOKING- I can't keep squeezing clients in. It takes away from the clients I already have booked and makes me rush my work sometimes. So from now on in the salon if you don't pre-book your next appointment, you are at the mercy of what the online booking system has to offer you. I won't be squeezing people in.

💬 What's one boundary you've set that has made the biggest difference in your career? Share it below—we can all learn from each other.

Meet me and my hair😂

Haven’t accepted going gray yet, haven’t been naturally blonde since 1990, and I have about 3-4 times the amount of hair of most humans.

Not complaining, I know I am lucky, but it did take me about 30 years to figure this mane out.

So you can imagine @sharonkellercreative always has some work cut out for her when I come in!

She used a new @milkshakehairpro line called Everlasting Bonds when I was in last week and it has NEVER felt or looked like that when brushed and blown out. No products used!

This special mask will be available as a treatment, and the product line is coming, DM Sharon to find out the details! by @sharonkellercreative

Coming soon to a salon near you!!

Holy Smokes! I was a bit of a skeptic when I heard milk_shake was coming out with a new bonding treatment line but my mind is blown! We tried it on models and that was fine, but trying it on myself was a game changer! My color looks brighter, my hair IS healthier, and its not weighed down at all. For a girlie with super fine hair, thats huge!

Brava @milkshakehairpro for creating something so wonderful and caring for both me and my clients!

Who wants a treatment?! Hit me up!

The kind of hair that changes your mood, your outfit choices, and your entire energy.

Brighter. Shinier. Just dramatic enough to make people ask questions.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to book the appointment… this is it.
Stop settling for “fine.”

Save this as your reminder + your next appointment.

Put my favorite Product, my favorite hairdryer and one of the best songs to sing together and you get me in my front room making a fool of myself.

But no joke here.... ever since it came out @milkshakehairpro Blow Dry Primer has been one of my go-to products. Its amazing on its own, layered or cocktailed with other products. One of the most versatile products we have for sure.

I also have to mention that @oliviagarden_int just launched this amazing hairdryer. So little but oh so mighty! It has quickly become my favorite.

Its a long video but maybe you can help!
If you know anyone looking for a job in a fun space, and is eligible for Skills please hook a girl up.
We need a salon co-ordinator starting in May.
This place is hopping and I can't do it all anymore.
If you know someone who can do all the things (including social media) send them my way!
