POSTS STORIES REELS

Some moments make years of patience, passion, and persistence feel worth it. 🦂🏆

My photograph of a Burrowing Scorpion has won the Invertebrate Behavior category at Wildlife Photographer of the Year, presented by the Natural History Museum, London.

From quietly observing this incredible creature in the desert to capturing the moment it digs into the shifting sand to create its home, this journey has been truly special. What you see in the final image is just a small part of the story. Behind it are hours in the field, patience, curiosity, and a desire to see nature a little differently.

To have this photograph recognised among thousands of images from across the world is an honour I will always cherish.

Grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. ❤️

Here’s a little glimpse into the story behind the photograph.

So many talented photographers people met in the award ceremony. I am literally overwhelmed after the function. What an experience, so many stories to tell so many things to say maybe I will cover those in upcoming vlogs or reels it’s just a task for another day.

I am just living and soaking the present moment for now.

The February 2021 issue of Sanctuary Asia is live!
.
On the cover: In a year that did little to improve human attitudes to already maligned bats, photographer Sitaram Raul spent days on end trying to capture this jaw-dropping image of a fruit bat near his home in Badlapur. The ethereal lighting and framing makes this a one- of-a-kind portrait of the winged mammal.
.
Between the covers: Meet the inspiring winners of the Sanctuary Wildlife Awards 2020; witness the intricate courtship between a pair of Great Hornbills through the eyes of @eightleggedblues ; join Dr. Priya Davidar as she reflects on the tragic, intentional poisoning of a dhole pack she had been following in the Sigur plateau region; encounter a wild pangolin with Tushar Pawar; enter the land of the rainbow lakes with Rajarshi Chakraborty; allow @surya_ramchandran to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how his phenomenal new book 'The Wildlife of South India' was put together; and so much more!
.

The Sanctuary Nature Foundation’s flagship Sanctuary Asia magazine, founded and edited by @bittusahgal, has been in continuous publication since 1981 and remains India's leading and best-loved magazine in its genre. After the first issue of Sanctuary Asia rolled out in October 1981, the magazine quickly came to be at the fulcrum of wildlife conservation efforts pan India.

The Badlapur Gang..
Years pass, trends change, but this bond is our ultimate constant.
From our initial days to seeing our brother lift the ultimate wildlife award, this is a win for all of us! We’ve never competed against each other. Our only goal has been to create great images and push each other forward.
We thought this was normal, but we’ve come to realize that this kind of selflessness is unique. That’s our real strength. When we’re out in the field, it doesn’t matter whose camera clicks the masterpiece. If someone is getting a better image, we make sure they get it.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2026 विजेते श्री.

लंडन येथील Natural History Museum आयोजित ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ या प्रतिष्ठित आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्पर्धेत मिळालेल्या पुरस्काराबद्दल त्यांनी व्यक्त केलेले कौतुक आणि दिलेले प्रोत्साहन माझ्यासाठी नक्कीच महत्त्वाचे आहे.
