My mother told me that I was her birthday present and my sister was my father’s. Something you wouldn’t gather by looking at any of us.
I took my mama to the Babylonia that is the UK for her birthday this year, a place she’s tried to visit for at least 25yrs. We have so much amazing family and love and community there, the irony of which is never lost on this Jamaican. England, you owe us nothing!! (And also everything, but that’s a debate for another time.)
I wake up daily with such gratitude for this life I live, for the opportunities that are mine and the people I get to share them with. I took Miss Dimple to art galleries, a play in the West End, The British Museum, The National Portrait Gallery and all the tube rides in between. I watched her light up at the palace, embarrassingly read all the plaques aloud in the museums and get drunk off a shot of pink gin. What a blessing for your mama to become your homegirl.
My mama, the gift that keeps on giving.✨ by @shedspichas

I hope you walk into every room full of yourself.
Doused in your magic, holding back your fears whilst armed with your trauma and their lessons.
Honouring your old self and ushering in your new.

I’m learning about new levels of imperialism lately, both universally witnessed and studied- it’s reminding me how we are such specks of stardust in the universe of humanity.
We’re here today at our jobs and our IG timelines then wiped out by the Allied Forces or an airstrike or an opium overdose, (whatever you get it)
I hope you’re yourself man. All the time.
You beautiful speck of stardust humanity. by @shedspichas

Our circumstances are changed by the ones who dare to challenge reality. Our world is changed with the work and audacity that it can. @poweru305 has fortified in me and countless others that it has to.
Since 1999, it has dared to work for the kind of schools, communities and world we all deserve. This Wednesday 07.31.24 Power U Center for Social Change, will take our fight once more to the annual MDCPS School board budget hearing, to have our voices, campaigns and demands be heard.
We are asking everyone to join us, speak with us and stand for the rights of our public school students in Miami.
We vote everyday with the choices we do and do not make my people. The powers that be want us to think it’s every 4yrs. Everyday is chance to change our circumstance. by @shedspichas

I’ve always been afraid of my power. Concerned with how much space I take up, how much energy I yield, how much people can see me. Maybe that my potency can overwhelm. It’s kept me compartmentalized. Shadowed, by my own self. 50% of someone with as much effervescence as I, can look like di whol’ 100.
I also don’t know how to throw things away; 2010 Sociology college papers, teenage angst, the entirety of Addis’ UCF life, avoidant lovers.
This post isn’t about how much I’ve always known the true me, and that I walk in the light of the new full goddess that I am. More so that people will mistreat you, and tell you, you asked for it. Especially with these two things combined. So hurry up and figure it out goodie. Caah we seh colour, we seh loud laff, we seh outfit and we seh tell ah dutty bwoy fi guh suck him madda.

Thank you Allah for this life I get to live. Thank you for who I am and who I am not. Thank you for the all encompassing, apparent miracles, the everyday blessings and the miracles that I didn’t know were mine. What is for me, comes coherently and without delay. Anything I can perceive, is mine for the taking, if I will it so. Thank you already and again and one more time and for yesterday and for next lifetime. #Bdaytrip2024 by @shedspichas
