For 2026 Shucker Honoree April Salas, the fight against cancer is deeply personal. 💙 Both of her grandmothers, her aunt, cousin, and sister-in-law have faced cancer, and some are still fighting today. She's seen firsthand how a diagnosis affects not just the person receiving it, but everyone who loves them. That's why April is stepping up as a Shucker Honoree. She's raising funds to support cancer research, provide resources for patients and families, and help remove barriers to care through programs like free transportation and lodging. April is shucking for the people she loves, the survivors she celebrates, those she's lost, and the families who deserve a future without cancer. Help us cheer on April and support her fundraising efforts at shuckcancer.org. 🦪 by @shuckcancernola
IT'S OFFICIALLY SHUCK CANCER MONTH! 🦪🎉 Sorry to Thanksgiving. Sorry to Christmas. Sorry to literally anything else happening in November. We've got bigger plans. In just a few weeks, we're taking over Champion Square for a night of incredible oysters, cocktails, familiar faces, and one very important mission: supporting the American Cancer Society and helping more patients access the care they need. New Orleans, you know how to show up for a good time. Now let's show up for a great cause. 💙 🦪 November 19 | Champion Square 🎟️ Get your tickets at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
Another one of our favorites is headed back to Champion Square. 🦪 Grand Isle Sea Farms is returning to Shuck Cancer, bringing their Southern Belle Oysters straight from Grand Isle to one of our favorite nights of the year. Fresh Louisiana oysters, a packed Champion Square and a party with a purpose. This is exactly what November 19 should look like. Who’s making @giseafarms one of their first stops? 👀 🎟️ Tickets are available now at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
“I’m not really competing against the other shuckers. I’m competing against a need.” 🦪 For 2026 Shucker Honoree Gretchen Trauth @gretchen_alexis_t, that need is something she sees firsthand through her work at Omega Hospital. The right doctors and innovative treatments matter, but they’re only part of the equation. Patients still have to navigate the system, get to appointments, and find a way to keep showing up, regardless of finances, insurance, or where they live. That’s Gretchen’s why. Helping make sure more patients can spend their energy fighting cancer, instead of fighting to access the care they need. And as for the actual oyster shucking? She’s starting with zero experience and predicting a 10 by November. We respect the confidence. 😂🦪 Support Gretchen and our 2026 Shucker Honorees at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
Halloween candy is great, but have you tried an unreasonable number of oysters? 🦪 We know what we’re asking for this year: oysters, cocktails and plans for November 19th. Consider this your reminder to get Shuck Cancer on the calendar before your group chat beats you to it. 🎟️ Grab your tickets at shuckcancer.org 📍 Champion Square | November 19 by @shuckcancernola
“If I could sit in the chair and take my sister’s chemo, I would do it. No questions asked.” For Lee Rea of Peaches Records, cancer has never been distant. He lost his aunt to breast cancer, his father after a long battle with cancer, and today, his younger sister is fighting triple-negative breast cancer. When someone you love is going through it, being part of their support system can leave you wishing there were more you could do. For Lee, becoming a Shucker Honoree is his way to “punch back.” Because the best care in the world only matters if a patient can access it. Transportation, lodging and the ability to simply make it to an appointment can make a very real difference for someone already carrying enough. This one is personal. And Lee is showing up for his sister, his family, and every family navigating cancer alongside someone they love. As for his shucking skills? A self-proclaimed 4/10. 😂 We’ll check back in November. 🦪 Support Lee and our 2026 Shucker Honorees at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
Shark Bite Oysters is swimming back to Shuck Cancer. 🦈🦪 Coming all the way from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, @sharkbiteoysters is returning to Champion Square with the fresh oysters we’ve been thinking about since last year. Consider this your warning to find their booth early. 😏 See you November 19 at Shuck Cancer. Grab your tickets at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
For 2026 Shucker Honoree Gabrielle Ferrara @gabrielle_ferrara, this year is about honoring the woman who was at the center of her family. Her grandmother, or “Tayta” in Lebanese, was the family matriarch, remembered for her generosity, fearlessness and the hole she left behind after passing from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Gabrielle is carrying that spirit with her into Shuck Cancer, while raising funds to help patients and families with something we don’t always think about: not just receiving treatment, but being able to get to it. Because those dollars turn into real, tangible support for people navigating cancer. And that’s exactly why she’s showing up. After experiencing Shuck Cancer for the first time last year, Gabrielle is ready to see Champion Square @championssquare even bigger this November. 🦪💙 Support Gabrielle and our 2026 Shucker Honorees at shuckcancer.org. by @shuckcancernola
Cancer treatment can’t help if you can’t get there. For many patients, access to care means traveling outside of their community for appointments, sometimes again and again. And with that comes another set of questions: How will I get there? Where will I stay? How will my family afford another trip? Those are burdens no one should have to carry on top of a cancer diagnosis. That’s what we mean when we talk about closing the distance. Funds raised through Shuck Cancer support the American Cancer Society’s work to help remove barriers to care, including transportation and lodging support for patients who need it. So yes, November 19 is going to be one incredible night at Champion Square. But every oyster shucked, ticket purchased and dollar raised is connected to something much bigger. The party has a purpose. And this is it. Tickets available now at shuckcancer.org by @shuckcancernola
Find the people who look this happy about oysters and keep them close. 🦪😂 Better yet, bring them with you to Shuck Cancer. 📅 November 19 📍 Champion Square 🎟️ Tickets at shuckcancer.org by @shuckcancernola
