Just fyi for family and friends. If you’ve never truly been supportive, it’s ok. Just remain 🤫 We got this💪 And even if we do decide on the therapy, we will be in the hospital for MONTHS and you won’t be there soooooo shuuush 🫠 #sicklecellawareness #sicklecell by @sicklecellnow
Sickle cell is like a monster hiding in the closet. You can go days, weeks, or even months without seeing it, but you never forget it’s there. And you never know what might make it come out. #winters #sicklecellawareness #sicklecell #warrior #keepgoing by @sicklecellnow
Jumping Genes!🧬 @trait.tribe is making some amazing points i this conversation. Go follow @farrondoziershow for the full discussion and much more! #crispr #genetherapy #jumpinggenes #sicklecellawareness #sicklecell by @sicklecellnow
I watched a really great conversation on @farrondoziershow and the trait doctor Dr. Maisha about sickle cell and sickle cell trait. This specific conversation was about holistic care and western medicine. As a doctor whether or not to suggest the treatments and transplants or not. Dr. Maisha beautifully explained how you must look at the specific patient and be able to see both things may be true at once. All things serve a purpose and individually it’s about discovering what’s best for each individual. These are the medical conversations we like to hear 🙌✨ Go to @farrondoziershow to get the YouTube link🤗 #sicklecellawareness #sicklecell #warriors #love by @sicklecellnow
Hey Everyone! ♥️ We wrote a book about Carlin's transplant journey!! Although it was a difficult season, Carlin braved the storm. This book is to encourage all those who are battling through a tough season and to encourage all those who read it. The book is available on Amazon, Books-a-million, Barnes and Noble..the link is attached below. https://a.co/d/0f1S8NTB #sicklecell #bonemarrowtransplant #childrensbook by @sicklecellnow
This was apart of a larger conversation about language.. Language has power: it shapes public perception, influences funding, and determines whose experiences are seen and understood. When articles use the word “cure” for one condition while referring to treatments for other major ailments, they create an unfair distinction that can minimize the ongoing challenges faced by those who still experience symptoms or complications after treatment. Words matter because they influence visibility, compassion, research priorities, and donations. Using accurate, consistent, and inclusive language acknowledges that treatment does not always mean a complete resolution and ensures that people living with lasting effects are not forgotten, dismissed, or made to feel that their struggles no longer count. #abundance #sickle #sicklecellawareness #keepgoing by @sicklecellnow
September is sickle cell awareness month!!! 🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Amazing job ladies! I was honored to be in attendance as a warrior and Sickle cell awareness advocate. So many people came out for @zeemullen and @mamakcamp September sickle cell awareness event! It was such an amazing event. What a blessing to see so many friends and staples of Atlanta show up for sickle cell awareness. The support actually helps other nonprofits and remind the warriors with sickle cell, they are not forgotten🙌❤️ Thank you for all the hard work that goes into these type of events. It’s usually funded personally and more corporate funding and donations help organizations and events like this.🫶 @zeemullen @mamakcamp @jazzepha by @sicklecellnow

#Repost @misslimah Full interview coming soon🫶 While I’m completely pro cure and love hearing the stories from sickle cell patients that have received these treatments and are doing well. Theres a bigger conversation to be had about the term cure. Imagine news articles and headlines that read, “12 year old boy cured from cancer due to groundbreaking chemotherapy!” There’s much more to the story that is not being shared and I have questions.🧐 let’s talk🤓 #sicklecell #genetherapy #crisprcas9 #love abundance by @sicklecellnow
