Rutger the Fallen from the @westfaliaminiatures Birdsung Series.

For this miniature, I worked exclusively with acrylics and washes, alongside a few pigments mixed with varnish. I really like how it turned out. Despite some of the rather vibrant colours, especially the verdigris and red, the miniature still has a wonderfully dark and gloomy atmosphere.

For the base, I used small pieces of wood collected from my garden, combined with texture paste and finished off with a few mushrooms. The final touches came in the form of moss patches from @siegescenics and a handful of punched-out leaves.

Yesterday the #DwarfWarriors were assembled (glueing the weapons was an small struggle, so directly assembled the shields as well to prevent glue damage after painting it), hopefully able to undercoat them this weekend and painting starts Wednesday.

Tomorrow regular post instead of Saturday.

Hello everyone, it’s been a while. BUT WE ARE SO BACK!! Here is my entry for Traveling Man’s 2026 #ageofpainttober challenge!
.
The limitations of this palette proved a tough challenge as the icy blue essentially reads as white when against any other colour than.. well.. white. So of course we had to improvise and mix it with varying amounts of green and black to achieve this washed out minty green, reminiscent of a Death Guard terminator. Which gave me the idea of using the orange for rust and the pink to achieve an almost skin-looking loincloth which nicely contrasts the armour. The orange helped with achieving varying tones of brown/cream for skulls and such. And of course the siege scenics moss tufts did what they do best - fit right in!
An experimental diorama where I tried to 3D print a base with integrated backdrop, and sculpted the concrete out of some XPS foam and gardening wire for rebar. The acrylic water fx for a little visual interest to reinforce the idea of an old structure swallowed up by a murky old swamp to bring it all together was of course necessary too. And finally, to bring the piece together and create this moody nighttime atmosphere, I added a small lantern in the water (fashioned from a necron gauss reaper… “creatively adapted”) and a hand-painted shadow of the miniature on the adjacent wall for further visual interest.
Very happy with this piece, and I hope you all will be too.
.
Painted with the exclusive @proartebrushes collab brush with Traveling Man - a very pleasantly manouverable brush with handling similar to sable, despite being synthetic!

Blood Angels assualt troops, close combat, jump packs, and that 2nd edition look.

A final post of the recent commission work for the Death Company and assualt squad with jump packs.

If these don’t give the 90s and 2nd edition vibes I don’t think much will! I picked up a load of plastic jump packs of eBay a good while back, a mix of Death Compmay, Blood Angels and Vanguard styles, now I see and they have shot up in price.
And for everyone asking the fit and glue on perfectly!

A mix of Space Wolves, Black Templars, Blood Angels and Blood Angels parts from @dragoon__gaming all went into making these, cutting away the knee fins and hip armour plates make them look just like scaled up 1st born marines (proper space marines).

All my Blood Angels are painted in the 2nd edition style and I just use the Angels of Death codex for the colour schemes and designs.
I think my favourite parts I painted to give that look were the lighting bolts on the knee pads and yellow trims around the jump packs.

I’ve got more work lined up and as always will be in this style. I really want to do some sanguinary guard, but the current models are so bad, maybe I’ll have to figure something out…

Basing topped off with @siegescenics desert themed tufts.

🍂FALLEN CANOPY 🍂 Now available on the Siege Scenics website.

Creating a realistic forest floor leaf scatter proved far more challenging than we ever expected. We wanted something that captured the natural chaos of woodland leaf litter while scaling perfectly for miniature basing, without oversized materials or artificial textures breaking the illusion.

The result is Fallen Canopy; a carefully blended mix of crushed leaf matter, fine bark, natural fibres, twigs, and organic textures in rich earthy tones of oak brown, aged amber, soft tan, and deep woodland bark. The varied materials create incredible depth and realism, recreating the look of decaying woodland debris and ancient forest undergrowth straight from nature.

Use it straight from the pot for fast, realistic basing, or seal, prime, and paint it to suit your own custom environments. It also pairs beautifully with our autumnal and winter Moss, MossTuft, and Tuft ranges to create richly layered seasonal landscapes.

Perfect for Fantasy forests, haunted woodlands, forgotten ruins, alien jungle worlds, and battle-scarred Sci-Fi environments where every detail tells a story.

Fallen Canopy is available now on the Siege Scenics website. Add the finishing touch your woodland and overgrown bases have been missing.
