Love you babe, we did it!!

Thank you so much to @thebiancaree for fighting for our dream starter home! 🩵🩵 by @sier.r.a

this is our home.

a lot of us run generations deep. this is a blessing, but it comes with a chip on our shoulder. we are protective of our small businesses and our beaches. we are protective of our “beach critters”; our tight-nit group of resident drunks. we are protective of our neighbors. and in the last few years, our home has changed in ways a lot of us didn’t see possible. it started with the pandemic, but this post isn’t about the pandemic. our streets are now bustling, skyscrapers and scaffolding are covering most of our beautiful land. the untouched is now exploited.. but this post isn’t about that, either.

just three short weeks ago, Helene hit the big bend of florida, flattening it. it tore through the southeast, leaving Appalachia in SHAMBLES. the town of Boone and surrounding areas are very near to my heart. there is nothing left.

Helene also brought the worst flooding my county has ever seen. people swam through their homes in the dead of night. and by the morning, it was all destroyed. there are mountains of drywall and memories sitting on every curbside.
in the days after, hot and long days of tirelessly mending our community, our first responders still searching for bodies, Milton was announced. it’s a hard feeling to put words. the impending doom, obsessing over spaghetti plots and trying to understand it all. i evacuated this county for the first time in my life, along with many others.
people are curious about the locals’ attachment to their communities and lives. “why don’t you just leave” has been a constant topic and question we all have had to answer this past month. we are a sentimental community, to put it lightly. and like i said, most of us run generations deep. the past few years, we have tried desperately to hold onto the quaint normalcy that was our county. anything left of then is now gone. the homes we grew up in, the schools we went to, the beaches where we had our first beer. this place raised all of us. and so many people have lost everything.
it’s going to be very different now, and you can feel it in the atmosphere. we are all so grief stricken.

we will rebuild. by @sier.r.a

oh august 🫶🏼

thank you all for the birthday wishes, and to everyone who made my 21st that much more special. 🖤 also… soft launching this killer back tat, thx rich

and nice try idalia, we’re still here!!
my coast experienced crazier flooding than i’ve seen through any storm, but st. pete does what st. pete does best- just keeps grooving on 🤙🏼 trading four wheels for kayaks was never too much of an issue for us anyway…

but seriously, keep florida in your thoughts. it’s easy to say that st. pete is okay, because we are, but my heart goes out to pasco and all the way north to the panhandle. those people are still swimming. donate. send care packages to shelters. they need us now.
