My most recent project “Superorganism” a music video ft. @wewrkin & keyon gaskin, premieres on Juneteenth at @pam_cut in an incredible line up curated by @kalimahabioto (who also happens to have been a cinematographer on this project.) I could not be more proud & privileged to have collaborated with such a talented & full-hearted group of people to bring this baby to life. I am incredibly honored that Superorganism will be sharing the screen with “Seeds” by Brittany Shyne, (@seedsthedoc ) a breathtaking documentary that follows the journeys of Black generational farmers. SUPERORGANISM features WRK! (@wewrkin @jacquehammond , @thebrownalice , & @yawamusic ) & keyon gaskin as leaf cutter ants in a symbiotic relationship with the fungus that they farm in order to mutually survive. As a superorganism, leaf cutter ants function cooperatively, as one unit, rather than individuals. Through this funky mixed-media groove, we celebrate the beauty of community and collective cooperation. Cinematography by @kalimahabioto . Costumes by @thedreamerswindow , @stylereformed , @landweaver , and @badgalmarqi. “Superorganism” the song was written and produced by @wewrkin @yawamusic @thebrownalice @jacquehammond & myself. Shout out to @trapodelsh3biye @precipicefund @regionalarts & @opensignalpdx for making this thang possible. Get your tickets, link in bio. If cost is a barrier to you, please reach out to me directly. I am so excited to share this with you all. 🐜🐜🐜 by @sighbaby_

I recently had the incredible privilege of designing a logo suite for @echoandwingfarm , a Black & queer led farm in Portland, Oregon. In an effort to stay true to their name, we decided to use butterflies as the heart of the logo, using wings to symbolize liberation- a central value of the organization. I specifically decided to use the painted lady butterfly as a reference - because much like the Black diaspora, they can be found all over the world. The @echoandwingfarm team also requested that I work with amaranth, a common cultural food across the Black diaspora. Amaranth looks like 4c hair to me - so I decided to use that as the base of my design. Thank you again @echoandwingfarm for trusting me with something so precious and congratulations on an incredible inaugural farming season. 🌱 🌾🧑🏿‍🌾🦋 by @sighbaby_
SUPERORGANISM BTS: ANT MASKS + HEADDRESS I worked with @badgalmarqi (Marquishia Winters) and @thedreamerswindow (Adriene Cruz) to create what became the ant masks and queen ant headpiece. After studying some reference materials I had taped up in the studio, @badgalmarqi brilliantly designed and created the masks using cardboard, balloons, kitchen strainers, and molding clay for the base before paper macheing and painting them with half-empty bottles of paints bought from @reclaimitpdx . As a final touch, we decided to use dried garlic stems from @mariquitamedicinals ‘ farm for the antennas. Together, the three of us explored @thedreamerswindow ‘s incredible studio and handpicked the pieces for the headpiece before @thedreamerswindow masterfully brought it all together. I took a back seat in the material selection process, as I quickly realized that the creative chemistry between @thedreamerswindow and @badgalmarqi was seamless - their tastes overlapped just right and it was best that I got out of the way and let them do their thing. This whole process has been beautiful lesson in trust. There is so much power in picking the right collaborators, creating a supportive container, and then trusting them to do their jobs. And boy oh boy did that trust pay off 🔥 🔥 🔥 Come see how it all came together! SUPERORGANISM BTS: COSTUME DESIGN This costume story begins in Kingston, Jamaica in October 2020. In between the time I spent obsessively starring at and drawing ants, I found myself enamored with the color of the clay soil and decided to dye a giant piece of cotton with the soil at my great-grandmother’s house. Fast forward to preproduction in February 2026 where after sketching up a design using procreate on my iPad, I called in @sewntoslay (Rone Chanel) to help me bring my vision to life. Working with the soil-dyed cotton and thrifted fabrics @sewntoslay skillfully brought the base of my sketches to reality while I paper-mached the biomineral armor pieces. Leafcutter ants develop biomineral armor as a response to farming fungus. This armor protects them from aggressive encounters with other ants as well as harmful fungus byproducts. Working with the paper mache, wire, and can opener tabs (bought in bulk from @scrapportland ) was a fun, but challenging task as I worked to figure out how to not overstimulate the performers while still achieving the look and feel I was going for. With multiple fittings and space for performers to provide honest feedback, we were able to create pieces that looked cool and felt good. Come see how it all came together!
