Move With Pride is a dance performance piece by Rebecca “Ondina” Hidalgo in collaboration with Iceland Dance Company. The show is a part of the Opening party of Reykjavik Arts Festival’s Festival Hub and will be followed by a celebration where DJ Seth Sharp will spin us into the night! 🌟

Workshops at #GBGfringe - part 1

Get your Art in Gear
with Marysia Trembecka

Get Your Art In Gear' is a workshop about how to set yourself up from the financial, creative, production and time angles of creating, financing, producing, marketing and getting the work out there - whether it's a photo exhib, a book, a theatre show or a film.

The Mess We Make
with Sigrun Osk Stafansdottir

This workshop would be an experiment in expanding the creative methods used in the process of making Wave Function Collapse to include collaboration and community.

Facilitated by Sigrún, autistic author and performer of the piece, the workshop will give participants a chance to learn very basic crochet skills, explore movement through improvisation and play with words. We will start by waking up our senses and connecting with ourselves and each other by learning the most basic stitch in crochet, the chain. As we have started our individual chains we will take them with us an exploration of movements and connections in the space. Together we will create a poetic mess of yarn, movement and connections.

Movement Improvisation
with Evie Demetriou

We invite you to this improvisation workshop, where movement is approached through playfulness and curiosity.

The workshop is open to professional dancers, advanced dance students, actors, and anyone comfortable with movement. Designed to push the boundaries of artistic expression, this session invites participants to explore and rediscover their movement potential.

Through guided improvisation exercises, you’ll be encouraged to:
observe your movement possibilities, challenge habitual patterns and uncover new pathways in your practice. We will also incorporate text and voice to add depth and complexity to your creative exploration. taken in Gothenburg by @ondinacreative

Behind the scenes footage of the final preparations and first showing of 'Everything already here', the result of a three-city residency with artists from Gothenburg, Montreal and Reykjavik.

The work developed by Anna-Greta Himmer, Sigrun Osk Stefansdottir and Roger White is an ecosystem of memory and minds. It explores improv-based practices that examine interconnectedness and embrace confusion, misunderstanding and the overwhelm that is being here right now.

The Fringe Arts Exchange project, developed by Gothenburg Fringe alongside Montréal Fringe and Reykjavík Fringe Festival saw an artist from each of the three cities brought together to develop a new work with residencies during each of the three festivals.

Our Fringe Arts Exchange project is well underway in Montreal!

3 artists representing the Fringe festivals in Gothenburg, Reykjavik and Montreal are collaborating on a new work over the course of three residencies at each of the festivals this year.

Meet the artists:

Anna-Greta Himmer
A graduate of Balettakademien Göteborg in 2023, who's vision for this residency is to truly connect with other people through art.
"I would like to take the opportunity of working with two artists that I haven't worked with before, to create something that is true to the situation. I'm interested in working with improvisation to get to know each other, working freely but also with tasks and scores. It would be interesting to together create our own kind of score, a new expressive language.

Roger White
Co-artistic director of We All Fall Down, who presented PAPILLON at Summerhall for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe and who's work fosters interdisciplinary collaboration between music and dance, blurring boundaries between the two until they merge into a cohesive interdisciplinary form, allowing dancers and musicians to take turns leading and following in a complex pas-de-deux.

"Recently, my practice involves creating documentary style soundscapes. I would like to continue working with found sounds and stories from different geographical locations to explore the relationship between sound, place, movement, storytelling and identity."

Sigrún Ósk Stefánsdóttir
"Since my masters degree in 2022, at London Contemporary Dance School, I have been working with themes of time and identity, hopelessly trying to figure out how to know anything and how to make myself known. I am interested in misunderstandings, expansive details and intricate universes.

"I enjoy working through text, crafts and movement in my practice and I find that my thinking becomes clearer and deeper when I can work with multiple media. I love to collaborate with musicians, visual artists and other performing artists." by @ondinacreative
