Thank you for attending the premiere of ‘Unlad Lubog!’ 💙 The night was filled with so much community love and support. If you’re interested in hosting a screening and discussion please reach out to @siklabmedia - our DM’s are open. Our panelists led a powerful community discussion about how we, the people, can collectively fight back against the development aggression that continues to threaten the homes and livelihood of our kababayan back home. This wouldn’t have been possible without the beautiful venue and staff of @givehopestudios. Check out their page for more community events! Many thanks to: 🎤 Emcees @thisptlife and @joshoflion from @lakalasugan 🍽️ Catering by @halinadito 🖼️ Photo exhibit curated by @cpddr2014 If you’re interested in getting involved, supporting a medical mission, or attending one in the future, reach out to @nafconsocal. Lastly, thank YOU to each and every person that made the night an uplifting one. Till next time. ❤️ by @siklabmedia

On June 14th, we spoke with community members attending the No Kings “Walang Hari” march in Historic Filipinotown and asked why they joined. Have you been to any of the protests recently? What motivated you to come out? Share in the comments! by @siklabmedia
“Today, Friday, October 30, 2026, a remarkable turnout from our community demonstrated unwavering support for Justice For Kaizann. The courtroom was astounded by the sheer number of attendees who filled every available seat. This overwhelming presence showcased the immense power of our collective strength. Prior to Kaizann’s appearance, the courtroom summoned additional five to six police officers, raising questions about the necessity of such a large police presence. It is possible that the officers were attempting to demonstrate their authority. However, our community’s collective power is undeniable. Kaizann witnessed the profound support and overflowing love our community has for Kaizann and our family. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your time and continued support. LET’S ROCK THIS BOAT!!! 💙✊🏽🇵🇭” -Karina Guerrero(Kaizann’s mother) Today was the first criminal court hearing in Long Beach for Kaziann Guerrero, after over a year of delays which kept him incarcerated without charges.  Omid Haghighat, Kaizann’s lawyer, shared after court:  “The next time we have the judge or the DA needing to make a decision, having this kind of showing, it’s just so powerful because it shows this is just not another case that they could throw away.” Diane, a psychologist and the co-education lead of @lakalusugan spoke to the crowd of nearly 50 supporters:  “Every person standing here sends a message that Kaizann and none of our siblings in detention have been forgotten, that their families are not alone, and we will not allow their suffering to go unseen or unheard.” Siklab will continue our coverage of Kaziann’s case. His next court date is set for December 16. by @siklabmedia
Honor Filipino American History Month and be a part of the long legacy of Fil-Am activism THIS FRIDAY by showing your support for a Filipino father who has been unjustly incarcerated for over a year without charges. “I want to see my son free. I’m not the type of person who will give up,” says Tita Karina, Kaizann Guerrero’s mother. Last Wednesday, a mental health court finally found Kaizann fit to stand trial over a trash fire, after holding him a year in custody without filing formal charges. This means Kaizann’s case is finally moving forward, and the family needs your support at the courthouse. The hearing will be at the Long Beach Superior Court on Friday, October 30th, with a recommended arrival of 7:30am. Packing the courthouse shows the judge that the community cares about Kaizann, and it can make a difference in how seriously the court handles his case. History isn’t just left to the past, it is unfolding right now through the Guerrero family and their community who demand care over incarceration, and @justice4kaizann . #justice #mentalhealth #fahm #longbeach by @siklabmedia
A special halftime performance by Lotti at Hustisya Hoops this Saturday 10/31! You won’t want to miss it! 🔗 Register to attend or make a donation for NAFCON’s Bayanihan Disaster Response Campaign: www.tinyurl.com/hustisya-hoops Lotti, born Vealy Celdran, is a Filipina immigrant artist making soul, rock, and alternative music about migration, memory, and the complicated search for home. Born in Mindanao, raised in the Visayas, and now based in Los Angeles, she writes across English, Tagalog, Bisaya, and Hiligaynon, drawing from both her own immigrant story and the stories that shape the Filipino diaspora. Her latest album, Maharlika Highway, follows the roads between the Philippines and the United States, exploring family separation, labor, land, identity, and what it means to find your way back to yourself and your people. At once deeply personal and reaching toward something collective, Lotti's music asks what we carry with us when we leave, what gets lost along the way, and what we might still choose to reclaim. Why do we fundraise for disaster relief and organize medical missions to the Philippines? Because disasters don’t end when the floodwaters recede—and their impacts are worsened when communities are failed by the systems meant to protect them. Months after the rainy season, a flooded basketball court in the Philippines reminds us that recovery is neither immediate nor guaranteed. Across the Philippines, recurring floods and other disasters are compounded by government neglect, corruption, and development aggression that puts profit over people. When disaster preparedness and essential services fall short, ordinary people bear the heaviest burden, losing homes and livelihoods and going without basic necessities and medical care. This is why disaster relief must go beyond temporary aid. 🇵🇭🤝 Through NAFCON’s Bayanihan Disaster Response, people-to-people solidarity supports communities with relief supplies, livelihood tools, community-led recovery programs, and medical missions that bring essential healthcare to those facing barriers to access. We cannot treat every disaster as an isolated emergency while ignoring the systemic failures that leave communities vulnerable. Fundraising sustains immediate relief and long-term recovery while standing alongside communities as they demand accountability, preparedness, and development that puts people and the environment first. 🏀 Join us for Hustisya Hoops! This 3x3 basketball tournament raises funds for NAFCON’s Bayanihan Disaster Response campaign. Every contribution helps turn solidarity into action and supports communities as they recover, rebuild, and work toward a safer and more just future. 📅 Saturday, 10/31 ⏰ 11 AM–5 PM 📍 Terasaki Budokan, Little Tokyo, Los Angeles 🔗 Register to attend or make a donation: www.tinyurl.com/hustisya-hoops by @siklabmedia

As part of the Bayanihan Disaster Response campaign, NAFCON partners with local community-based organizations in the Philippines to provide timely and effective people-to-people assistance to the most impacted families and communities when disasters occur.  NAFCON sends people to the Philippines to learn about conditions on the ground and contribute to ongoing relief efforts when our kababayan are facing displacement, destruction, and other urgent needs for relief and recovery. Through community based learning with impacted families that are part of the reason why ongoing aid is needed and communities, we are able to understand the everyday experiences of Filipinos in our homeland and simultaneously support community-led and sustained responses. – ⭐ Support our upcoming medical mission and future ones by joining our Hustisya Hoops Basketball Tournament! All funds raised will support medical missions, disaster relief, and long-term recovery efforts in the Philippines.  🏀 Hoop. 🎶 Dance. 📣 Cheer. 🙌 Volunteer.
