Second part of winter 2025/26

Gym, diet, no alcohol, repeat. And clearly a lot of mirror time 🤭. In my defence, I was finally proud of what I saw.

But it wasn’t just physical. I started really focusing on myself, working through things properly, group therapy included 💪🏽.

Gianluca and a few friends started joining me at the gym around now too, which made it a lot more fun, and I felt accountable for it too 😎

Winter 2025/26.

This is where I could finally see it. Four months without a drink. The gym stopped being something I dreaded and started being something I actually showed up for, 2 to 3 times a week, which for someone who’d never managed consistency in his life felt like a small miracle.

But the real shift was confidence. Actual confidence, for the first time in a while. Suddenly I’m the guy taking mirror selfies again, not hiding from cameras. Small thing, but it meant everything.

Through all of it, surrounded by love. Friends, chosen family, people who kept showing up without needing to be asked. by @silvioolmeo

Autumn 2025.

Went back to the roots. Bacaro Jazz, one of my first workplaces, a quick reset with someone who’s known me since I was 19.

But the real weight of this one is elsewhere. Vega opened her new lab, years of work paying off, and I got to be there celebrating something she built. And I became an uncle again 🤭, that kind of joy that puts everything else in perspective.

Then the shift. Slowly, then all at once, I started noticing it. How I reacted to things. What I saw in the mirror. How much more understanding I was with myself. The moment I stopped drinking, my body actually started to change. Not gradually. Almost like it had been waiting for permission. by @silvioolmeo

Late summer 2025.

Work had me travelling constantly: Dubai, Cyprus, Venice, Jesolo, Manchester, Cyprus again. Good distraction, and honestly a great one: incredible places, and I met people through work who are turning into real friends🧡

Still wasn’t happy with my body. Still wasn’t fully committed. My brain was trying to squeeze this new “get better” thing into my normal routine instead of actually changing it — which, unsurprisingly, doesn’t work, but I still tried I guess 🤪 by @silvioolmeo

July 2025: this is where it started.

That month I made one of the toughest decisions of my life, and my coping strategy was “yes to the second glass of wine and also the pizza, thank you.” Very sophisticated system 🙋🏽‍♂️

But somewhere in the mess I actually decided to get better — not just survive it. Before that I didn’t like who I was: disoriented, a bit lost, using food with a second/third glass of wine as my most trusted (and least momentarily helpful) friends. This block is that starting point — mirror selfies, nights out, and a real talent for avoiding my own problems.

The one thing I got right immediately: the people around me. Turns out you can’t outrun your problems, but you can absolutely lean on good friends while you figure it out. Forever grateful for that 🧡 and I started going to the gym or at least I pretended 🤭

FAM trip research day done 😅🥤.

3 hours cycling through the countryside of Jesolo learning about the history of the reclaimed marshlands, local wine culture and the area’s fascinating past, with plenty of sunshine, incredible gelato and a quick beach stop before heading to the airport.

Heading home full of inspo, ideas and @silvioolmeo Italian Idioms 🇮🇹💃🕺”darling” x

Thank you
