DE// Die Gruppenausstellung „Animacies“ untersucht, wie sich die Beziehungen zwischen Europa und Asien durch Kunst, materielle Kultur und theoretische Perspektiven neu denken und erzählen lassen. Die Künstlerin Ashfika Rahman (*1988 in Dhaka, Bangladesch) präsentiert die zweiteilige Installation „Redeem“, die sich als visuelles Archiv versteht. Ihre künstlerische Praxis dient als kreative Kraft, durch die sie marginalisierten Gemeinschaften ihres Heimatlan-des Sichtbarkeit verleiht. Al centro di questa riflessione c'è l’idea di “animacy”, che mette in discussione la tradizionale divisione tra vivente e non vivente. Particolare attenzione è rivolta a prospettive di regioni spesso marginalizzate nel discorso globale: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mongolia, Filippine e la diaspora indiana delle Fiji. DE//„Animacies“ untersucht, wie sich Beziehungen zwischen Europa und Asien aus neuen Blickwinkeln denken und erzählen lassen. Im Zentrum steht das Konzept von „Animacy“, das die verbreitete Unterscheidung zwischen belebt und unbelebt infrage stellt. Besonderes Augenmerk gilt Perspektiven aus Regionen, die im globalen Diskurs weniger sichtbar sind: Bangladesch, Indonesien, die Mongolei und die Philippinen sowie die indische Diaspora der Fidschi-Inseln. EN//“Animacies” explores how relationships between Europe and Asia can be re-imagined and narrated from new perspectives. At the heart of the exhibition lies the concept of “animacy”, which challenges the common distinction between the animate and the inanimate. Particular attention is given to perspectives from regions that are less visible in global discourse, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mongolia and the Philippines, as well as the Indian diaspora in the Fiji Islands. DE // Am Samstag, den 9. Mai, ab 16:30 Uhr wird Raziel Perin, ein italienisch-dominikanischer Künstler in Residenz im Kunsthaus – seine Forschungen in Form eines Open Studios präsentieren, im Dialog mit Lucrezia Cippitelli und Simone Frangi. Die präsentierte Arbeit entsteht aus dem Projekt Vitruvian Man (Concerning Black Masculinity), das Männlichkeit als soziale Konstruktion im Zusammenhang mit kolonialem Erbe untersucht. Das Forschungsprojekt wird von @creativita_contemporanea des #MiC im Rahmen des Programms #ItalianCouncil (2025) unterstützt. Um 18 Uhr folgt eine geführte Besichtigung der Ausstellung CÓMPLICE mit den Kurator*innen. IT// Sabato 9 maggio dalle 16.30, Raziel Perin – artista italo domenicano in residenza alla Kunsthaus –presenterà le sue ricerche, in forma di open studio, in dialogo con Lucrezia Cippitelli e Simone Frangi. Julien Princesse Didier présente ainsi les apports des minorités LGBTQI+ aux récits écologistes. Kim Doan Quoc propose une performance dans laquelle des contes folkloriques vietnamiens sont réécrits depuis des perspectives décoloniales, queer et écologistes. Analu Laferal x Tiagx Velez x Juliana Zuluaga Montoya imaginent à travers leur film l’émergence d’une nouvelle espèce hybridant différentes formes de vie et de technologie. La soirée du jeudi 26 mars, quant à elle, inaugure le partenariat avec le projet d’ANR ETHIOKONGROME mené par Olivia Adankpo-Labadie à l’Université Grenoble-Alpes et propose d’explorer les relations diplomatiques, religieuses et culturelles entre les royaumes chrétiens d’Éthiopie et de Kongo et les puissances catholiques méditerranéennes aux XVe et XVIe siècles, à l’aune des pratiques artistiques actuelles. Ce premier temps de collaboration se concentre sur la manière dont les artistes congolais·es Nkisi et Sinzo Aanza offrent dans leurs recherches artistiques une relecture de l’histoire des relations entre leur pays et l’Europe à l’aune de leur travail avec des archives sonores historiques. En paralèlle, Amal Alhaag, curatrice, chercheuse et co-initiatrice/facilitatrice de plusieurs initiatives basée à Amsterdam, notamment Metro54, donnera un workshop de deux jours qui reviendra sur ses projets de recherche sur l’histoire de l’esclavage, les collections coloniales et la culture populaire en tant que patrimoine. taken in Esad Grenoble by @kunsthausmerano

Cómplice Kurator*innen / A cura di: Lucrezia Cippitelli, Simone Frangi 21.02-25.05.2026 Mit der ersten Einzelausstellung des kubanischen Künstlers und Pädagogen René Francisco in Italien präsentiert das Kunsthaus einen umfassenden Überblick über seine mehr als vierzigjährige künstlerische Praxis. Über alle drei Etagen werden Installationen, Filme, Zeichnungen, Malerei sowie pädagogische und soziologische Forschungen gezeigt. Im Zentrum der Ausstellung "Cómplice" steht das Konzept der Kompliz*innenschaft: eine tiefe emotionale und soziale Verbundenheit, die durch Zusammenarbeit, Partizipation und Freundschaft entsteht. -- In occasione della prima mostra personale in Italia dell’artista e pedagogo cubano René Francisco, la Kunsthaus presenta una panoramica completa della sua pratica artistica, sviluppata nell’arco di oltre quarant’anni. • We’re thrilled to launch the 8th edition of our Visiting Curators Vienna residency this coming Monday. Our selected curators will immerse themselves in the city’s contemporary art field over the next weeks. Happy to introduce the first curator 🌟 Simone Frangi (Italy) is a researcher, writer, and curator whose work explores theory as action, visuality as a site of political struggle, and cultural research as a critical tool. He holds a PhD in Philosophy/Aesthetics (FR/IT) and teaches Aesthetics, Art Theory, and Visual Culture at ESAD Grenoble, where he co-founded the Research Unit Hospitalité Artistique et Activisme Visuel. He is co-director of Live Works – Free School of Performance at Centrale Fies and previously served as artistic director of Viafarini (Milan). Together with Lucrezia Cippitelli, Frangi serves as Artistic Director of the Contemporary Art Programs at Kunst Meran (Merano, Italy), where they lead the triennial research project The Invention of Europe.
