Gouge - a very short story

⚠️ Trigger warning - abuse ⚠️

The world sang to the Deer. Every cut on her flanks, a hateful intimation delivered from ash-white soil that had lost all its nutrients. Quenching itself from the rivers of oil and grease that slid upon the glassware grass and eroded its banks into calloused patches.

The Dragon made this place for her. An experience given as a gift for a reason long forgotten. It continued on, involuntarily. Like cardiac muscle, her hooves kept beating and shattering the grass as she struggled to find a place to rest. It did not matter that such a place didn't, nor had it ever, existed. Her thoughts turned to that fact quite frequently. A hazy and murky place from where she kept asking one singular question, to the point at which each individual letter had been worn down to marrow.

"Why?"

And sometimes,

"Why me?"

There were no answers to this query, aside from her anemic subconscious chiming in unsuitable theories.

But then, another thought would spring up. A duplicated phrase with new meaning:

"Why?"

Why continue the search?
Why keep eating the lacquer laiden berries that make her sick?
Why bother putting another hoove down, inviting more cuts?

She already gave all the blood she could offer. It kept coming out despite her.

It was because the Dragon loved her.

The Dragon gave her gifts.

Shackled by the heaviest of all, its stinking bow sat upon guilty revenge, a horrible cacophony of desire that tore at her brain until the voice inside her head grew hoarse.

Do you forgive her?
Do you understand her?

"I miss seeing you wear my shirts. Their massive folds would pour over you like water, thrashing like the waves when you got excited about something. Were you actually excited about it? Were you even talking to me, or through me? Your wings were so warm. Your antennae would tickle my face. You hated it didn't you.. I'm sorry, I knew you did but, gods, not this badly. To do all of this. How could you?..... How dare you." -Cole by @simply_silky7

Tons of doodles for tons of friends!!! I love ALL the people I've surrounded myself with.🦌🤲💜 You're all too awesome to be quantified.

This took me absolutely forever, it just kept growing as I was working on it, and there are still more people I could've added and quite a few people I would love to add. So please let me know if you like this style, cause I just maybe might do a part two

Its always been like this, ever since I can remember. The tiny voice in the flowers tells me that. He reassures me at the brook that the crystal clear waters hold no parasites. He lets me know where to put each on my feet so i dont trip upon the rough cobblestone. He tells me that my ruler loves me. Gods, I need Her to love me. I feel sick when She isn't around. My soul aches for Her.
.
Its been that way for as long as I can remember.
