My Fall ’25 moodboard and reminder of my intentions for the next season: More family time. More art. More facilitation. More humor. More music. More delicious food. More nature. More reading Better sleep. Better self-care. Think big! ✌🏽 by @sista.boss
I spent 10 years going to Burning Man discovering more and more who I was not. And despite A LOT of fun, seeing INCREDIBLE art and witnessing people’s unbelievable generosity... at the end of the day that place was never for me but my stubborn ass likes to learn lessons the hard way... over and over again until finally you are forced to stop and reflect and see things fully for what they are. (Thank you 2020)!!! 2009 - First Year 2010 - 1st & last with Mike 2012 - Sprained my ankle 1st night 2013 - Smell's 1st Year 2014 - Organized a camp it was horrific 2015 - Being stuck in my car with a stranger for 13 hours AWFUL thankfully we picked up Devin along the way and had the simplest Burning Man ever. 2016 - Learned the joy of leaving places early. 2017 - Got a flat tire coming into BM and drove alone through the back roads 🤦🏽‍♀️ 2018 - Earlier in the year I got in a car accident and then my mom broke her pelvic bone... The Universe was like GIRL STOP all this shit and I didn't listen. Went again and did the most but looked cute doing it 🫠 2019 - I had to work! That's me legit working to prepare and send this weekly KPI report. I mean are there even words to describe the ridiculousness of it?! OF ME! If Burning Man feels like an unsafe place to be yourself, trust that—it probably is. And if it feels like the only place where you can truly be yourself, I’d be curious about why that is. I am so grateful for the magic of the desert and how sacred that land is for holding and protecting me all those years! by @sista.boss
Winter 2024 summarized… by @sista.boss
2023 Serine 1. I have been wanting a hat just like this for YEARS! And I finally found one in a 7Eleven in Santa Barbara, one of the highlights of my life!
 2. Selfie before my 34th birthday dinner.
 3. Exhausted after breaking glass and spilling shit in my kitchen. One “accident” after another this day. I spilled coffee all over my dress the next morning. Clearly I was ignoring some big ass message trying to be sent to me.
 4. 4+4= ATE 😮‍💨 Culture Con 2023, the event wasn’t really what I thought it would be. The fashion however, was INCREDIBLE and I got this dope picture of myself.
 5. Impressed by Hair’s personality. She definitely runs her own program.
 6. On the hike with Outlandish in Harriman State Park. It was the rainiest hike I’ve ever been on, we were all soaking wet and I was grinning from ear to ear the entire day. One of the BEST days last year.
 7. My happiest place… my bed.
 8. Little selfie after witnessing my friend Ashia shine on a panel for Harlem Fashion Week and feeling so much gratitude to witness so many incredible women shine!
 9. Summer Serine in Santa Barbara to celebrate Smell’s last single days. If Rickey sees this I am sincerely throw away the cork wedges ☠️!
 10. On my way to Darien to hang with Archie & Frankie from Brie’s bebe shower. It was my first day drinking in 2023 and when I accidentally ate the tiniest bacon bit and my stomach was FUCKED UP all night and the next day. by @sista.boss
This year I’d like to be consistent on my weekly Artist Dates! They aren’t always to galleries but it does happen to be a favorite type of artist date! Week 1 - Basquiat x Warhol: Painting Four Hands, an exhibition of works form the artists’ influential collaboration in the early eighties. (1/07/24) by @sista.boss
As you may have seen in my previous post I was BUZZING on Wednesday night after facilitating and hosting my first workshop of the year. We were a cute small group but nothing else about that night was small or cute. My word for 2024 is audacious and I’m not here to play. A few months ago I watched an interview with Erykah Badu and several time she said, “Creator doesn’t give you what you want, it gives you what you are!” I keep reminding myself of that. So this year I am facilitating workshops OFTEN. I’m going to Chico next week for my #1 gals wedding and yesterday I thought why not do a workshop while I’m there. If you are in Chico or nearby and don’t have plans I would love for you to join us. I am so grateful for brother @nateoutofoffice for letting me use his incredible gym to host you all (you might have to bring your own chair, TBC)! Next Thursday January 18th in Chico from 7:00 - 9:30pm. If you have any questions send me a DM or text me. See you there! by @sista.boss
2023 was HARD in so many ways and INCREDIBLE in many others. As I said I’m still reflecting on everything that I did and experienced so I can put together some of my biggest lessons from all those challenges. One thing I do know is that 2023 was the year NYC and I made it official official. I moved here in April 2021 and the 1st year I flew back to California everyone month. It was basically me moving my shit over one trip at a time, working there and here, buying, selling and rearranging furniture and figuring out NYC at the end of pandemic. My 2nd year I still made way too many trips to CA, drove Peanut (my car) across the country and took too many international trips (Mexico, Italy, UK). Interestingly before every trip I would get anxious or sick and want to cancel. I didn’t and this year I have been paying the price of betraying myself (a thought for another day). My 3rd year has been THE ONE! And like I said I made it official. Only had one trip to CA last year. I really feel settled and I regularly have been experiencing the things I came here for. I knew NYC was for me and yet I definitely missed the access to the “outdoors”. After many attempts to join an Outlandish hike I finally did one this past Fall, made a pal and have since begin exploring more of the mountains outside the city. I said to her when we were hiking, this is exactly what I needed to make New York feel like my permeant home. It finally feels like I’m living the New York life of my dreams and I know I’m just getting started. by @sista.boss
Last night I facilitated my first workshop of 2024 and as always forgot to take pictures because I’m so engaged in what’s happening. I did, however, snap my cheesy grin and wind swept hair after walking home, SO GRATEFUL & HAPPY for the space shared. THANK YOU to everyone who showed up! It was magic 🪄 We used our time to begin or expand on our 2023 reflections and shared some of that. We did a little shadow work to help explore some of the energy we would benefit from bringing into this new year. And shared words that could help anchor us into that energy. I’ll be using winter for reflection and starting the ‘new year’ on the 1st day of spring or the Equinox. But here is what I’m starting with. IN - Getting curious about everything I want to put on the ‘Out List’ and what about those things I actually love and what conscious & unconscious needs are they serving? OUT - Nothing Happy 1st New Moon of 2024 and New (Gregorian) Year! by @sista.boss
My reminder to walk! It's easy to return to love when I walk. The singing is the audio of a video I recorded of the Black Monks when they came to the Theaster Gates exhibit at the New Museum back in February. by @sista.boss
Today is my 34.5 birthday! That 1st picture is on my 34th birthday back in May when I made this. A mood board to remind me of the energy I’m calling in. I was going to share, but I’m conflicted about posting personal things on this platform; knowing a corporation that causes a lot of harm is profiting from my vulnerability. And I suppose that’s the push & pull with many things right now. So, for the sake of being witnessed, I will share, but I’ll probably delete later.  Love is the root.  My love for people has no bounds. To know love is to believe in our humanity. We are here for love. To experience love. To give & receive love. Our gift is love & acts of love are pure.  Power. Real power comes from an understanding of our humanity. Our love. How we are all connected. Like the mycelium in the ground. Like the roots of trees. What we do to one, we do to everyone. No one is free until we are all free.  The delusion of white supremacy is the fallacy of power. That “power” is a house on stilts in the middle of the ocean. It's tenuous. It's exposed. It's fragile. It’s “power” in relation to the oppression of others. It says I’m big because you are small. I am good, but you’re bad. I'm civilized & you're a savage. It says my violence is justified, but you're a terrorist. I'm safe, but you're a threat. The liar works hard to convince you of their lies. And they get violently defensive when you question them. They live in a constant state of fear because their safety is based on a lie. There is no such thing as violence in the name of love.  My act of resistance to the liar is to open my heart. To learn how to bare my heart & take care of myself when it's broken. To be more vulnerable & get more comfortable being rejected. To “fight” the liar, I have to get more rooted in love. When I feel righteous rage & anger can I remember we're all connected? Can I be more forgiving? How am I when things don’t go my way? Can I fully surrender to uncertainty? These are the current questions of my heart.  Can my love be boundless when I’m overwhelmed, hopeless, & scared? How do I love the liar while protecting & taking care of myself? by @sista.boss
Back from a nearly 3 year in feed hiatus (not that anyone noticed or gives a shit 🫠)! Happy Sagittarius Full Moon. I was born under this moon so it always feels extra special ✨🌝. As with most full moons I don’t really sleep, so here we are creating a Full Moon in Sag collection. In the last 3 years I’ve been learning a lot more about the moon, the cycles, the energy, the symbolism, astrology and really all the magic. Included are the books and people who’ve helped me in that discovery. #sagittarius #fullmoon by @sista.boss
