Roots Therapy! ๐Ÿ”Š๐Ÿ”ฅ The frequencies were high, the connections deep and the sound heavy. This night was an initiation into something truly special - itโ€™s no coincidence this launch happened to align with the peak of Lionโ€™s Gate 2026 ๐Ÿฆ We are moved to step back and take in the vibrant community that has grown around us through different eras of our personal lives and musical journey. To see so many of you come through and enjoy yourselves was beautiful! ๐Ÿ™Œ We couldnโ€™t have chosen a more perfect combination of people to launch this series of dances celebrating Bristolโ€™s rich heritage and international links. There were multiple full cycle moments. ๐ŸŒ€ Ras Addis brought a hearty selection and chanted on the mic in his iconic style, also playing one of his own studio productions! It was an honour to platform this beloved rastaman - especially as we prepare our first release, featuring his voice! Keep an ear out because we are finally releasing the record very soon!๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŽบ From St Paulโ€™s, Bristol to Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท - our brother, Spiritual Rockers, delivered a heavy & uplifting set, playing all his own productions & encompassing sounds from across the globe! An extremely talented yet humble man who has dedicated years to his craft & to the music. We celebrate him as not only as one of Brazilโ€™s top dub producers, but the creative force behind much of our artwork. He has been an integral part of our journey since 1Relations inception and before, so it was truly special to share these moments together & weโ€™re sure everyone in attendance will remember the Spiritual Rockets vibration!๐Ÿช Thanks as well to Doreta & Mahalia for trusting the call and expanding the holistic, spiritual and creative experience with live painting and delicious offerings. ๐ŸŽจ And a special thank you to The Pickle Factory, all who joined the door and venue team. You didnโ€™t just help us hold the space safely- you brought your creativity, care and spirit and became part of the event itself. ๐Ÿ‘ We can also announce that Roots Therapy #02 will take place on the 14th of November, with a lineup we are very excited about, so keep your eyes peeled for that one later this week! ๐Ÿ‘€ 1R ๐ŸŒŽ by @sista_ina
We took @1relation_sound_system to a festival for the very first time! This was the Azania tent at @medicinefestival 2026, hosted by @hue_artivist , where the soundsystem provided just one of a number of performances, drumming circles, workshops & cultural offerings that took place in the space. In this clip, @kingfishasound plays a track produced by @kahnbristol to round off the session, then Rosina makes a speech. Special mentions to @rubbariddims who warmed up the dance for us nicely and @mackkaa_ who took the mic in an assured fashion & delivered some bars. Also thanks to Dave @morefireouternationalsound who drove us there & helped with the sound, and special thanks to Kabbo for the invite! 1R ๐ŸŒŽโค๏ธ๐Ÿ”Š๐Ÿ”ฅ by @sista_ina
Weโ€™re all set up & the sound system is warming up! ๐Ÿ”Š๐Ÿ”ฅ Looks like itโ€™s going to be a lively dance, thanks all who have already purchased tickets, weโ€™ve saved some for people who want to pay on the door also. Thereโ€™s vegan Moqueca to eat as well, first come first served! Roots Therapy #01 is underway after much work! Tomorrow, we launch Roots Therapy! We hope to share this experience with as many of you as possible. Long time coming, and only the beginning of a series of healing, educational, intergenerational projects centred around sound system that I intend to help alchemise. I am moved to have two very gifted Black women from the islands ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒบ joining us for our first edition of Roots Therapy. We hope they will continue to be part of our creative ecosystem & the collaborative journey of @1relation_sound_system ๐Ÿคฒโœจ Allow me to warmly introduce Mahalia from @mahalias_art_club & @decoded_roots and Doreta-Mae from @alternativehealthuk who will be integrating their medicinal works into the space tomorrow. Both ladies wear many more hats than one social media post can do justice. I will attempt to shed some light on their passions & talents. Mahalia ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ฒ Inspired by post-Black theory, the practice of decolonialism, and women of the African diaspora, Mahalia Sobers explores each of these themes throughout her work. Expressing her passions through paint, collage, illustration, and curation. Uncovering the hidden parts of identity & questioning the societal rules we have come to uncritically accept. Other layers of aesthetic that are present in her work include musicality, horticulture, history, and fashion, used to interrogate & emphasise the narratives of her work. Tomorrow, @mahaliasobers will be showcasing & selling her art while creating on the spot inspired & immersed in the therapeutic vibration of our sound. Doreta-Mae ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ณ Wellness consultant-herbalist & coach. She tours UK delivering workshops, retreats & artisanal offerings rooted in ancestral wisdom. "Your Health, Your Path, Your Way" is her motto, emphasising that our health is our wealth. Doreta specialises in nutrician, conscious plant power, movement & breathwork. She's also a passionate baker & chocolatier! And yes, you've guessed it, she's bringing her delicious medicinal cakes & sweet treats tomorrow. @thepicklefactory_easton doors open at 8pm.. vibes continue to 2am! Arrive early to be fed by @wilfy_rootikal & get first dibs on cakes! ยฃ10 tickets still available online. More on the door ๐Ÿšชโœจ๏ธ by @sista_ina

Weโ€™re launching a new night called Roots Therapy! ๐Ÿ‘€ For this first edition we welcome 2 highly rated guest artists to play on the soundsystem! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”‰ SPIRITUAL ROCKERS Heโ€™s one of the best dub producers from Sao Paulo, Brazil ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ทA huge city where Jamaican soundsystem culture has thrived in the last 10-20 years. He produces a heavy & mystical style of dub & has had releases on Steppas Records as well as a recent hit called East to West on Dubatriation Records which has been getting a lot of plays on soundsystems around the globe! Heโ€™s a dear friend of ours & has become an extended member of the 1R family having produced music with us as well as doing a lot of excellent artwork for us, (including this poster) Wilfy met him during his stint living in Brazil & this will be the 3rd time that Spiritual Rockers has played in Bristol, albeit the first time in a good few years, having previously performed at The Kuumba Centre & The Plough. We cannot wait to hear him play his music on our own soundsystem for the first time & we ask you to come & give this talented & humble artist the warm welcome he deserves! RAS ADDIS Addis needs little introduction around Bristol, a humble & kind rastaman with the spirit of a warrior who has been involved in roots and culture music as long as we can remember! Previously the mic man for Negus Melody Sound System, heโ€™s also voiced classic anthems produced by Dubkasm & Ishan Sound, as well as a soon to be released track with 1Relation. A rootikal selector himself, Addis has been mashing up dances in recent years, from Shambala or Love Saves The Day festivals, to The Plough or Cosies, he delivers great sets, strong, spiritual & authentic. There will be stalls & food! In celebration of community & holistic medicine, we have invited local artisans to share their offerings, and we will also be serving food cooked from the heart by Wilfy Rootikal who is known to be as great a selector of flavours, as he is with sounds. Tell your friends & we hope to see you there! Check headfirst to secure early bird tickets! 1R๐ŸŒ by @sista_ina
