This is @chamrsdeluxe β€˜s pouch that he found in a thrift store a few years ago. The leather was falling apart so he asked me if I could make it functional again and replace the leather. I had never done anything like this before, so of course I took on the challenge! Here’s some history: 1800s French Napoleonic Brass/ Leather Civil War Military Ammunition Pouch Case. 19th-century military ammunition pouch, often referred to as a β€œgiberne”. Origin: These pouches are commonly identified as French or Spanish, likely originating from the mid-19th century or the Napoleonic era. #skateelfleather #replacement #leathercraft #historical #chamrsdeluxe The leather was gone, cracked through the whole body. But the brass was original and worth saving, so I took every fitting off, cut a new hide to fit the frame, and reassembled it around the original hardware. Cool crown piece. I gently removed all the nails, also cool. The wood inside, also cool. There were tiny little forged nails on the inside embedded into the wood. The bottom pin was riveted on the wood, so I had to keep that in. Cut out new piece of leather of 5oz veg leather. I stained the inside to match the original leather and had to cut a hole to fit over the bottom finial. All the original hardware back on with a new riveted in flap to fasten the pouch like the original pouches had. Annnnd I was so excited to give it to him I forgot to take pictures or videos of the done piece in my shop πŸ˜‚ but he liked it! Sir @chamrsdeluxe wearing the pouch! by @skateelf
