🌸Hyperpigmentation A Quick Cheat Sheet🌸

Hyperpigmentation is a medical term used to describe darker patches of skin. These patches result from excess melanin production, which can be caused by everything from acne scars and sun damage to hormone fluctuations.

If you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation, know that you aren’t alone.
When treating hyperpigmentation using OTC products, it’s good to tackle it via different stages of melanin formation (i.e. before, during, or after) using different pathways (such as inhibiting processes that play a role in melanin creation or by breaking down melanin.)
I’ve broken down the different pathways, along with ingredients that help. It’s very likely that many products have a combination of these ingredients so you don’t have to layer too many products at once - probably not a good idea to do that anyway since too many products at once could lead to irritation.

Professional Treatments:

Glycolic Acid Peel
BioRePeel
Light Therapy

🧪Salicylic acid is belongs to the family🧪
of beta-hydroxy acids (BHA).

Here are some of the benefits of using a salicylic acid
face wash:

🧽 Helps unclog pores: Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can penetrate deep into the pores to help remove dirt, oil, and other impurities that can clog them.

⭐️Exfoliates the skin: Salicylic acid also helps to exfoliate the skin, which means it can help to remove dead skin cells and other debris that can contribute to acne and other skin issues.

♥️Reduces inflammation: Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to reduce redness, swelling, and irritation associated with acne and other skin conditions.

🧪Controls oil production: Salicylic acid can help to regulate sebum production in the skin, which can help to prevent clogged pores and breakouts.
Improves overall skin texture: Regular use of a salicylic acid face wash can help to improve the overall texture of the skin, leaving it smoother, softer, and more radiant.

🌵It is important to note that salicylic acid can be drying and irritating to some people, so it is best to start with a lower concentration and gradually increase as tolerated. Additionally, it is important to use a moisturizer and sunscreen to protect the skin and
prevent further damage.

Hyperpigmentation treatment
Hyperpigmentation is caused by an overproduction of melanin in patches of the skin. This overproduction is triggered by a variety of factors, but the main ones can be linked back to sun exposure, genetic factors, age, hormonal influences, and skin injuries or inflammation. This lady came in for our retinol facial, which uses retinol and other ingredients to treat pigmentation & acne.

Benefits of Hylauronic Acid
To the less beauty savvy, it may sound like something you don't want to put anywhere near your face (we all took chemistry lessons at school, just sayin...). But, what if we told you that it actually holds the key to smooth, flawless and hydrated skin?

In fact, our own skin cells actually produce Hyaluronic Acid naturally in a bid to maintain moisture levels. But, thanks to pesky ageing and environmental aggressors, to name just a few things flung at our faces on a daily basis, those levels tend to take a bit of a dip. Hyaluronic acid behaves as a humectant to maintain the skins hydration.
