“Do you know what this book is?”

Word Bearers Sorcerer in Terminator Armour ⚡️📖

-

This was kitbashed, using the free Deathwing Knight GW gave out & it was a pleasure to work on. It’s way chunkier than older terminators, which I’m all for.

I usually like my minis to have a sense of movement but decided to give the sorcerer a more contemplative pose, with inactive power fist resting on power sword, ready to recite some accursed words from his evil little book 🧙‍♂️

Word Bearers legionary - an old foe.

His chainaxe, taller than a mortal man, could rip through even terminator armour. It would make an awful sound and spray hot sparks in all directions but eventually it would bite and pull through to the other side.

By the end of it you would be half-covered in gore but that was never a bad thing 💀

The White Scar bounded out from cover, clearing the distance in an instant. He fell upon the heretic soldiers and dispatched them with ease, dancing between their strikes with a fluid grace, eviscerating them with his Chogorian-pattern chainsword.

Moments later he was gone, searching for the next target of opportunity. As quick as lightning ⚡️

I finally painted some “good guys” and I’m super happy with how it came out. I love the White Scars and working on a cleaner look while still being gritty was a fun challenge.

I saw the Lord of Poxes tutorial by @black_chalice_studio on YouTube where he used an “oil scrub” which looked great. I wanted to try it with white and really like how the various layers of acrylics, enamels, oils and pigments look together.

For the Khan!

Punisher Chaos Space Marine 💀

I was intending on making a chaplain but after sculpting the ribs I thought it would be fun to paint as a heretic from the Punishers warband, which I remember seeing way back in the 5th edition chaos codex.

Those older codexes were so great, full of unique lore and unrivalled artwork! I’ll sculpt a few more details but am happy with how it’s coming along.

Spiky Evil Sun 🌞

I scratch built this several years ago, inspired by the classic GW spiky cactus. Originally I was planning on using it as a Purple Sun or a chaos dreadnought but that never came to fruition. When starting my recent band of crazies, I knew I finally found this fellow a home.

I love DIY projects and plan on making more in different sizes and expressions!

Carnival of Chaos. A warband of marauding vagabonds, mutants and crazies 🌞

The floating-spiky ball is my own creation which I made a few years ago and finally found a home for it!

The other minis are sculpted by Mike Darpa, which I fell in love with immediately upon seeing them. They each have so much character with a heavy a Hieronymus Bosch feel.

This group will expand as I bought a bunch from @eurekamin at a local gaming event. Each paint job I try to smash out in one or two sittings.

PS. I haven’t posted in a while as I’m currently exploring Japan!

Space marine terminators are probably my all time favourite design by Games Workshop.

Recently I had the fortune to score a bunch of 2nd-edition terminators (from 1989) at a local trade event.

The other week I also put together one of the new assault terminators, for an upcoming homebrew project.

Here is the same design, 36 years apart from one another and they’re both perfect - in my eyes anyway 😍

Daemon Prince of the Word Bearers legion.

-

I spent some time playing around with the build as I wanted the face to have more presence and look more chaotic.

Taking inspiration again from @greenstuffing I nervously chopped off the whole neck area to sculpt in the gaping maw from the accursed cultist kit, blending it with the original face.

Then I changed the position of the hands; adding a talon from the possessed kit and sculpted a left hand to hold the axe which changed the overall silhouette.

As this fiend is (or once was) a Word Bearer, I thought it would be pertinent to shift the focus from the axe to the face and love how it came out! It adds an extra layer of body-horror that I feel ties it closer to the possessed marines which it will be running around with.

Possessed Chaos Space Marine (V/V).

This was the most intensive conversion of the unit and was quite nerve racking. I sawed an accursed cultist in half and merged it with the possessed body but love how it came out - probably my favourite of the bunch!

I also decided to magnetise the back as it could be fun to use as a character to lead raptors/warp talons.

Possessed Chaos Space Marine (IV/V).

With this possessed, I’m planning on painting it absolutely covered in gore! The helmet has an open maw, which I thought would look wild, drinking the viscera, sprayed from its chainsword. It has quite a heroic pose, so I thought would be fun to paint in grim contrast.

I swapped a leg, altering the pose, along with the converted helmet, extra-mutated claw and a few other bits.

Possessed Chaos Space Marine (III/V).

I used the giant arm from the accursed cultist kit and sculpted the chest armour to look like it had bust through.

I love the hunched, bestial look of this possessed and can imagine it bounding forward on three limbs, salivating though its helmet - its only goal to satiate its bloodlust.

This conversion was inspired by @greenstuffing - a great sculptor who has tons of incredible works!
