Lunch and Learn Second Edition is a wrap!!! And there is everything to write home about from this session facilitated by @slimshaka and @_nyassh_ Ahead of the Nakuru Market Day, we sit with creatives and learn how to build proper portfolios and pitch to potential clients. Our take home? A proper portfolio speaks for you and gets you into the rooms of opportunities, and pitching is where you secure the said opportunity. How do you represent yourself on virtual paper (websites, landing pages, catalogues and bios) and how do you present your craft in person (how you speak, how you dress, translating value for both yourself and your client) We are excited to see how this will be actualized during our #nakurumarketday ✨💃🕺💥 #lunchandlearn #barazainnakuru by @slimshaka
With their cool poster you wouldn't even imagine how much they are frustrating artists. @kitfest_ke Shame on you for taking advantage of artists. We want our pay. My team & I staged a 1hr 30min show, catered for our own accommodation, rehearsals, transport just to bring the show to life. 6 months later they're still giving us excuses. Now they're inviting more artists to prey on. SHAME ON YOU!!! Now we're starting a campaign, we are sensitive about our art. Pay what you owe. Worst Festival Ever!!!! Dear artist, do not be fooled by their glamor, these people do not care. They will pay for billboards & TV promotions then give you stories when your pay is due. They pay celebrities promptly, you who spends hours rehearsing, taking loans for the exquisite set design they choose to clap then ask you to wait in line. 6 months later it more Kasongo kynda excuses. @kitfest_ke SHAME ON YOU!!!! What an evening it was — sharing one stage with two main voices and four incredible featured poets. ✨ From the very first performance to the final applause, it was a night of powerful storytelling, raw expression, and unforgettable artistry. Xabiso Vili brought a fresh and captivating perspective to spoken word performance, offering the audience something both profound and beautifully unexpected. To everyone who came, listened, and shared the moment with us, thank you for being part of such a special experience. A special thank you to Suavé Kitchen and Social Club for hosting us and creating the perfect space for such an intimate and memorable evening. Your warmth, ambiance, and support helped make this experience truly unforgettable. If you missed this evening, stay tuned for our upcoming events. There’s so much more to come. 🎤 by @slimshaka

An Evening with the Masters brings together two defining voices of African spoken word for a one-night-only experience in Nairobi. Headlining the night is Xabiso Vili, South Africa’s three-time National Slam Champion and the 2022 World Poetry Slam Champion. Renowned for his fearless, genre-defying performances, Vili’s work exists in the tension between rage and tenderness—unfiltered, unapologetic, and deeply human. Sharing the stage is Slim Shaka, one of Kenya’s most respected spoken word artists. A Slam Africa Champion and finalist at the 2023 World Poetry Slam Championships, Slim Shaka is a foundational voice in Nairobi’s slam movement. His performances, layered in multiple languages and sharp political insight, have earned him legendary status across East Africa and beyond. This will be a meeting of craft, culture, and conviction. A space where words become experience. 100 slots only available through link in bio https://mookh.com/event/an-evening-with-the-masters/ #poetry #SpokenWord #slamafrica by @slimshaka
