Today marks the first day of Fall 🍂🪐

A season of change, transition, and letting go.

Tonight my warm yin class served as an invitation to slow down and reflect on what this new season might be asking of us:

What can you let go of? And, in doing so, what can you make space for?

Just as nature changes with the seasons, we’re constantly changing too. Each season brings something different, and I think there’s something beautiful in allowing ourselves to change alongside it. Sometimes growth means releasing what no longer serves us, even when it feels uncomfortable, and creating space for something new to take its place.

We don’t always have to know exactly what comes next. Sometimes it’s enough to slow down, reflect on where we are, and trust that making space can be its own form of growth.

I’m feeling very grateful I got to share this practice tonight. Thank you to everyone who joined. Here’s to a season of letting go, making space, and growing into what’s next🤎

More than two years ago, I remember thinking about how intimidating it would be to teach a yoga class.

A little over a year ago, I took the first step and signed up for my YTT.

Today, I taught my first yoga class.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, practiced with me, and shared this experience. Your support means so much to me, and I have so much gratitude for today.🙏🏼🧘🏼‍♀️🫶🏼

One of the things yoga has made me reflect on most is how rarely we allow ourselves to fully experience the present moment. So much of life is spent anticipating what’s next, replaying the past, or distracting ourselves from what’s right in front of us.

In the yoga sutras, “yogaś citta vṛtti nirodhaḥ” is often translated as “yoga is the calming of the fluctuations of the mind.” I think that’s part of what makes the practice so meaningful: quieting the monkey mind.

For me, yoga has become a practice of returning to the present through movement, breath, and awareness, while learning how to sit more peacefully with my own mind.

Hi I’m Sierra! 🤍

I recently completed my 200hr YTT and wanted to create a space to share my practice and the way I experience movement.

I found yoga while I was in University, and it changed the way I see and connect with my body. Yoga has become a way for me to slow down, connect, and just be with myself.

I’m grateful to be here and glad you’re here too! by @smc.flowstate
