Lauren, celebrating your birthday this weekend was sweet. You are the love of my life, your laugh is infectious, your smile lights up my world. You’re kind & compassionate beyond what I thought anyone had capacity for. You’re a true dreamer, almost all of my best musical ideas originate with you. You’re inspiring, & so so so strong. Life can be tough, it can be rocky and unknown. But with you, you make it all feel light & filled with blessing. I love you. 35 has never been this beautiful. Happy birthday my love. by @smyle_kith

Sing to the Lord a new song, right? We loved introducing this to our church this weekend. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!

The exalted one
Who has overcome

Yesterday was a special day for the Smith’s.

Lauren was recognized & prayed in as a pastor here at NL. It was a thorough process, & I could say so much about her, but I keep coming back to this when I think about today.

I remember in August 2012, I had only known her for about 8-9 months, she was praying Isaiah 61 over herself. Asking for the Spirit of the Lord God to rest upon her, to do the work of the Lord. If you know her, you’ve seen her walk in that authority. Regardless of recognition or label, she has walked in her calling.

She doesn’t need a title to prepare the way of the Lord. She does it and lives it in the public and the private, and I see it. Today was a public recognition of who she is & the calling she carries, and it was significant and special.

Lauren, I love you, I’m proud of you, I’m proud to know you. You carry the Spirit of the Lord everywhere you go. You carry the compassion & love of Christ into every room you enter. You are a beautiful woman of God & my favorite worship pastor.

— the song in the background wasn’t written about this, but it feels so fitting. Lauren wrote this song & it’s wrecked me since the first time I heard it. by @smyle_kith

It's always been You, God 🤲🏽
