the OST for adult swim's "the elephant" is now on streaming platforms and maybe elsewhere! by @someb_ooks

in the early days brainstorming my section of "the elephant"...
i thought maybe going deeply theological could be the way to go...
dealing with the creation of humankind...
i explored a lot of ideas, generating a sort of false creator character
and imagined animating it all like some satoshi kon film...
... but i don't know how to do that! its outside my abilities.
so i tried other conceptual angles...
a woman named zoe playing mobile games on her phone...
... a final form of some sort of golem, waking in a river, feared by humanity but accepted by children...
... and then eventually i gave up on all the big ideas and decided to just do a romantic comedy, haha.
that let me focus on resolving the character's emotional journey
rather than getting bogged down by trying to answer all the big picture questions.
it also just gave me an excuse to watch a bunch of romantic movies!

adult swim's "the elephant" is now on youtube! i directed the last third.
here are some old digital doodles.
that first two were mock ups for a potential opening sequence.
the next one was my initial sketch for the idea of a certain short sequence in the film.
last drawing is just a doodle of sceeno looking at you. by @someb_ooks

i shot this with my mom's phone like 10 years ago but never posted it. the song is by @isaacgillespiedotcom! by @someb_ooks
