Our children are loving life in their new casita. 🤍 Fresh air, warm sunshine, plenty of space to explore, and the simple joy of being outdoors.

Watching them soak up the sunlight, breathe in the fresh air, and make happy little memories here makes this new chapter feel even more special. ☀️🌿🏡

First day of school year 4 of SOMOS!!

New year, new adventures! Here’s to a great one! 💛

Did you know Cabarete is known as the Kiteboarding Capital of the Caribbean? Thanks to its steady trade winds and warm waters, it's one of the world's top destinations for kitesurfing.

Spend an afternoon at the beach watching colorful kites fill the sky as riders glide across the water and perform incredible jumps. Whether you're interested in taking a lesson or simply enjoying the view, it's an unforgettable part of the Cabarete experience.

Many local schools offer lessons for beginners, making it easy to give the sport a try in a safe and supportive environment.

🌊 Have you ever tried kitesurfing, or is it on your Cabarete bucket list? 🪁 by @somosschool

At Somos, we learn by doing. 🚀!

We turn ideas into action, challenges into learning, and experiences into growth.

Because the best lessons don’t just happen in a classroom; they happen when you get involved, try, fail, adapt, and try again.

Count down for our 4th year!!!

📚 School starts soon, and we couldn't be more excited!

We can't wait to welcome our students back to a place where they can learn, grow, explore, and build lasting friendships. The rooms may be quiet now, but not for long!

See you soon, Somos families! ❤️

Over the years, Somos has been in constant change and evolution. And while the journey hasn’t always been easy, one thing has remained at the heart of everything we do: our community. 🌎❤️

Building a business is never easy. Building a school as an expat in the Dominican Republic comes with its own unique set of challenges—from navigating a new country and culture to the countless decisions, obstacles, and sacrifices that come with creating something from the ground up. And then there was the dream of actually building our school… quite literally. 🏗️

Through all of it, we have had the privilege of creating something truly special: an amazing community of people from all over the world, united by the belief that education can—and should—be different.

Because Somos isn’t an ordinary school.

At Somos, we tailor our curriculum to the specific needs of our students. We believe that values are just as important as educational content. We want children to grow not only as learners, but as confident, kind, curious and compassionate human beings.

And perhaps one of the things that makes us proudest is this: our children wake up wanting to come to school every morning. ☀️

Behind that feeling is a loving, dedicated team that works every single day to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, inspired and free to develop into who they are meant to be.

Somos continues to evolve. We continue to learn, adapt, dream and build.

But through every change, our community remains at the center of it all.

Thank you for being part of the Somos journey.
Here’s to everything we’ve built together—and everything still to come. 🌱🌎

Whether you're catching your first wave or watching the pros in action, Playa Encuentro is the place to be. Known as one of the best surfing beaches in the Caribbean, Playa Encuentro offers consistent waves, experienced instructors, and a welcoming surf community.

Morning is the best time to visit, when the waves are at their best and the beach comes alive with surfers of all ages. Beginners can book lessons with one of the local surf schools, while experienced surfers can enjoy some of Cabarete's most reliable breaks.

Even if you stay on the sand, it's a great spot to relax, watch the surfers, and experience the adventurous spirit that makes Cabarete so special.

We can’t wait for these courts—and our schoolyard—to be filled with kids again!

There’s something special about hearing the laughter, seeing the friendly competition, and watching our students simply enjoy being kids. From pickleball to playground adventures, there’s always room to play, connect, and grow at Somos.

The countdown to having everyone back is on!

Summer may be winding down, but at Somos, there’s always time to PLAY!

From running around with friends on summer days to building, creating, exploring, and laughing together at school, we believe play is an important part of how kids learn and grow.

As we get ready for another school year, we’re holding onto those carefree moments that make childhood so special. Because at Somos, learning doesn’t always look like sitting at a desk—it can look like getting outside, getting creative, and having FUN! ✨

Fresh air, sunshine, movement, and nature all contribute to emotional well-being and healthy brain development.

Whether it's the beach, a park, or simply playing in the backyard, outdoor time is one of the best gifts you can give your child this summer. by @somosschool

Hands-on learning is at the heart of everything we do at Somos School.

We believe children learn best when they're actively exploring, creating, experimenting, and discovering. From science investigations to creative projects, every experience is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage critical thinking.

Learning isn't just something our students watch—it's something they experience every day.

We love hearing what makes our students excited to come to school each day. One student shared that their favorite things about Somos School are the kindness they experience from teachers and classmates and the wide variety of books that keep them engaged and inspired to learn.

Knowing our students genuinely enjoy their days at school is one of the greatest compliments we could receive. Creating a place where children feel happy, supported, and excited to learn is what Somos School is all about. 💙📚
