POSTS STORIES REELS

My brother (in law) wrote and shared this with us yesterday about dad🥰. Perfectly stated! To the most cherished dad, my best friend! Happy Heavenly Father’s Day!
Peace in The Valley by Josh Allen @j33allen
As a football player, I’d seen many massive men enter a room, but none of them were as big as you. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, a mountain of a man who knew how to dress real fly too. 3 piece suit, cuff links, pocket square, maybe even a fedora. Personality larger than life, a faithful wife and 3 beautiful daughters. For someone that everyone noticed, it was hard to go unnoticed by you. You made everyone one feel seen, connected, and respected. You often formed immediate bonds with perfect strangers, instantaneous inside jokes, infectious laughs, no one felt neglected. I can only imagine you in your full Glory. A storyteller, in heaven, teaching and preaching, telling the most beautiful stories.
I can hear you now: Don’t cry for me. I finally found ‘Peace in the Valley.’ You know I’ve never been one to boasts, but I’m now in the company of my mother, father, and The Lord of Hosts. Dressed to the nines, I’m all the fine, got my eyesight back and I’m still on my post. I can see so much more than my natural eyes could ever see. So don’t cry for me, for I am finally free. Say it aloud with me, “I’ve found peace in the valley.”

I’d known rivers’, one littered with swamp rats. That’s what they called those of us who lived way down deep in the Shenango Valley on the other side of tracks. Across from Wheatland tube lived one shrewd dude, a monster on the diamond, I was one cool cat. I’ve got nothing but fond memories but still no looking back. I completed my assignment and I’m on to my second act. So don’t cry for me. I’m finally free. I’ve ascended to heavenly places. I’ve made “Peace in the Valley”.

Two years ago when I told my dad that I believe I will be transitioning into full-time ministry, inside he was jumping for joy, but he said, “walk me through your process.” It was then that he reminded me of praying to the point of peace, the Levites (iykyk), and the weight of ministry. As a pastor/teacher/preacher for over 40 years , he knew it all too well.

Yesterday I led my church in day 10 of our 21 days of prayer. I enJOY ministry, including communicating because if you know me, I always have something to say ☺️, and my father greatly enjoyed hearing about it all, “Hey Sonya, how’s the ministry…” And Seeing me teaching the Word was probably his favorite part. Sometimes days before a message he would call and say “OK what you got.” And then before I would even step off of the platform, he had notes for me “babe, that was good, “you looked great smiling, getting more comfortable, full of joy” or, “I understand what you meant but it was about 2% off theologically😆” . BUT, he would always end with, “I’m so very proud of you. I’m proud of all my three daughters. Y’all have made your mother and I so very proud.” Yesterday was bittersweet.
