Despite the laws on the books, sometimes it's up to ourselves to keep our communities safe from an illegal eviction. Here's what you need to know if you or someone you know is ever facing an illegal eviction. SAVE THIS POST so you can come back to these points.

🧠STEP 1. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. An eviction in a rent case in Baltimore City is illegal if you didn't get the proper notice, if you already paid the amount due, or if the sheriff isn't present for it at all.

📝STEP 2. DEMAND PROOF. The landlord has to prove they gave you notice by having all three at the time of the eviction:
- certificate of mailing of the mailed notice
- timestamped photo of the notice posted on your door; AND
- sworn affidavit by the person who posted it

(PRO TIP: Sign up for informed delivery with the USPS so you can verify what you received in the mail.)

‼️STEP 3. ASK FOR A JUDGE TO WEIGH IN. If the landlord doesn't have one or more of these three things, say this:
“I did not get notice of this eviction. According to Real Property 8-407, the landlord does not have the required evidence to prove notice was given. Because there is reasonable doubt, a judge has to weigh in. Please bring this back to court today to be heard in front of a judge.”

You can also ask for it to be brought back to a judge if you paid the amount due but the landlord says you didn't. by @soulightruth

🎉🕌 Voices Of Haqq : What Do You Love About Islam? • Name a Memorable Moment? 🗣️ 🎤

Featuring: @femme.hue
🎥 @amngstothrthngs

At our first-ever Eid al-Adha Block Party, we didn’t just celebrate — we connected.

🎤 Between food, roller skating, music, and prayer, I asked a few attendees some deeper questions to tap into the spirit of our masjid and community.

We asked:
✨ “Where are you from?”
🧥 “What inspired your Eid fit today?”
💞 “What do you love about being Muslim?”
🌙 “What’s a moment that made you fall in love with Islam?”

The answers were thoughtful, powerful, and personal — a reflection of the beauty and depth of Masjid Ul Haqq. From born and raised Baltimoreans to reverts and out-of-towners, this event brought out the full spectrum of the Ummah in our neighborhood.

This was more than a party — it was the soft launch of something meaningful.

🗣️ Stay tuned for a new series we’re building, titled Voices of Haqq — spotlighting the real stories, reflections, and truths from the people who bring this masjid to life.

Thank you to everyone who shared. You made this Eid unforgettable.
