Surprise! Philip Frobos returns today with his first new music in five (count them) years. Having kept busy with his group Omni - recently celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album - Frobos now eases back into solo mode with a digital single featuring two thrilling covers: ‘Waxwing’ by Sorry and ‘Kawasaki’ by Jane Birkin. Consider your appetite whetted: there’s much more music waiting just over the horizon! Philip adds: “‘Waxwing’ and ‘Kawasaki’ were two covers that had been on my docket for some time. ‘Waxwing,’ originally by the elegant and occasionally grotesque band Sorry, features dual drumming from Rodrigo Avendaño (Soccer Mommy) and Jonah Swilley (Revival Season, Mattiel). It was recorded by Avendaño at his studio in Atlanta, GA, and mastered by Andy Clarke. I immediately fell in love with the Sorry track. I found it captivating in its dark humour, contemporary dystopian outlook and sense of disengagement. ‘Kawasaki,’ also recorded by Avendaño, shares similar themes, albeit coming from a different place and time: societal rejection, apathy and nihilism. Jane Birkin, Serge Gainsbourg and Jean-Claude Vannier are household staples for me; Sunday mornings with coffee and eggs.” UTR

The Yummy Fur's brand new single 'Wanda' is out today! A miniature portrait study, the song folds together the life of filmmaker Barbara Loden with the protagonist of her singular 1970 feature ‘Wanda’ - a meditation on identity, dislocation and escape. The accompanying film, shot in part on Super 8 by Roberta Cumbianchera, stars fellow Argentinian actress Daniela Aita. Drifting between Hollywood Boulevard and the faded fairgrounds of Raymond Chandler's Santa Monica, its luminous imagery mirrors the song's spectral pull. 'Wanda' is the latest glimpse of Everybody Talks About the Weather, The Yummy Fur's forthcoming album, released via Upset The Rhythm on 25 September. @theyummyfur @mutante_inc @southernrecorddistributors @forcedexposure2 @dakyta @filmsbycumbia by @southernrecorddistributors

The Yummy Fur return today with their upbeat new single ‘Headphones’. A jogger’s delight of a song musing on life’s reckonings, Carrie Fisher and tinnitus - all written outside a tanning salon in Ayr! In short… The Yummy Fur at their most spry and disarming, classic territory. ‘Headphones’ is the second single taken from the band’s eagerly anticipated new album ‘Everybody Talks About The Weather’, out September 25th on Upset The Rhythm. ‘Headphones’ is streaming now on all music platforms, and the entire superb video can be found here: https://youtu.be/6M0lYyDTX3k Immense thanks to Radhika Dade for filming / directing. @theyummyfur @radh__1ka__ @southernrecorddistributors @forcedexposure2 by @southernrecorddistributors
Well, this is pretty astounding news! Upset The Rhythm will release a brand new album by uproarious Glasgow legends The Yummy Fur this September. Their first collection of new material in over 27 years, Everybody Talks About The Weather is seductive, ambiguous and exhilarating; a fast-paced flip through scenes from art, myth, life and fantasy; a witty whole made from glittering scraps. The band’s original incarnation (fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist John McKeown from 1992 to 1999) morphed from making quick-hit cartoon-art songs to Eno and Cale-influenced creepers, populated by characters from McKeown’s life in Glasgow and the films, books and poetry that he lived a parallel life through. Everybody Talks About The Weather continues in this mode, boasting ten tracks as condensed and vital as their best work, with a new clarity of sound that ushers ambiguities to come into the light. Today we’re sharing first single ‘Unity Over Europe’, a bruising stomp of song, lyrically playing host to three Mitford sisters amidst allusions to V2 rockets, Pynchon and a Bacon triptych. All this could be laboured in lesser hands, but cultural verbosity is second nature to The Yummy Fur, who transform all this source material into songs that are weird, sexy, funny and absurd. Meaning is not happily understood or flattened. Everybody Talks About The Weather (out on Sep 25th) is available to pre-order now as a limited ‘blue sunshine’ LP, black LP, CD and digitally from all the best shops, as well as directly via our Bandcamp. The Yummy Fur will mark this monumental occasion with a UK tour, featuring an album launch in London on Friday 9th October at The Lexington. Tickets are on sale now, with a Glasgow launch to be announced soon, look out! THE YUMMY FUR - UK TOUR 05/10/26 - Oxford - Little Bully 06/10/26 - Exeter -The Cavern 07/10/26 - Brighton - The Prince Albert 08/10/26 - Norwich - The Holloway 09/10/26 - London - The Lexington 10/10/26 - Bristol - Cafe Kino 11/10/26 - Manchester - Kamera Thanks to Luke Fowler for the band photo, and to Mac McNaughton for the wondrous artwork. And so it comes to pass... EarthBall - ‘Actual Earth Music Vol 3 & 4’ is released today! The Canadian avant/noise/rock assemblage return with a new album that plunges to full fathom five, transforming their sound into something rich and strange. Side A captures a thumping performance at Cave12 in Geneva. Frazzled from a white-knuckle alpine descent, the group settle into a hypnotic sprawl, stretching time and form in ruminative cycles. Side B meanwhile presents a scorched excerpt from EarthBall’s crush of a performance at Le Guess Who? Festival last winter. ‘Actual Earth Music - Volume 3 & 4’ marks another ascent in EarthBall’s ever-expanding, totemic discography, an ecstatic storm of raw immediacy and unfiltered expression. Out now on Upset The Rhythm, the album is available through digital portals, as an extended CD, and as a limited 180g black vinyl pressing. Check it out hither: https://upsettherhythm.bandcamp.com/ EarthBall are also heading back to the UK/EU this August/September, check the tour poster for details!
