Sometimes it is hard when you feel defeated. You wanted so much more for your city. But remember you movers and shakers that you are the culture. You are the ones that always make a difference.

You keep on creating and making a difference to every day lives with art, music, poetry, skating, shopping and everything that makes up the cultural industries. Keep on flying the indie flag for the coffee shop owners, the restaurants, the places we love to eat and buy from.

Really proud of our community, you know who you are 👊👊

A new speciality coffee festival, @coffeeonthecoast_ , is coming to Portsmouth on Saturday 17th October 2026 at the Royal Maritime Hotel.

Are you a coffee enthusiast who sees drinking the brown stuff as an inspiring world of knowledge? Do you like to think about things like small-batch coffee, farming, bean selection, grinding, and artisan-quality brewing? Then this festival might be just for you!

I love meeting people who want to learn how coffee beans are harvested and roasted, and how they can master the final steps to make a wonderful cup of coffee, and I think an event like this is where all that info and artisan focus shine.

Coffee on the Coast will bring together coffee lovers, home brewers, independent roasters, drink brands, makers and coffee experts for a relaxed, hands-on day by the coast.

Visitors can expect coffee tastings, workshops, talks, demos, competitions, prizes, and a Brew Your Own Coffee area designed to help people learn more about making better coffee at home in an approachable, enjoyable way. The event is open to all levels, from curious beginners to experienced home baristas, with two sessions running across the day.

Read here to find out more; there are morning and afternoon sessions available.

Win 2 x tickets to see Dickens and Co @theatreroyalportsmouth which is on for one night only!

All you have to do is follow Southsea Folk and @pompey_poetry_party and say in the comments who you want to take with you. Winner will be announced on the 30th of October!

Four of Portsmouth’s literary heavyweights are being brought together for one gloriously theatrical night at Theatre Royal Portsmouth – alongside some of the grassroots artists shaping the city’s creative scene today.

Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells and Rudyard Kipling might not be the first names you’d expect to see sharing a stage.

Monday 9th November will see their worlds collide in Dickens & Co, a new production celebrating Portsmouth’s extraordinary literary past with a distinctly modern Pompey twist.

Taking place at Theatre Royal Portsmouth as part of the Portsmouth100 programme marking 100 years since Portsmouth was granted city status, the production brings together theatre, spoken word, music, song and dance.

Honestly, I went last year and was blown away with the actors, the costumes and the feeling that Charles Dickens would approve!

Happening just before Christmas allows us to get in the festive spirit and embrace all the Dickens vibes.

ALL 45 lions from the lion trail are going to be at the @portsmouth.historic.quarter on Saturday the 3rd. I caught up with @rooabrook and @simon.whitcomb who both designed front covers of the Southsea Folk magazine to talk about their lion designs and being part of the project.

Although the trail has now finished and not in the places they were, they will be at the @phdockyard for one day.

Head over to Apple or Spotify to have a listen to the artists involved and go and celebrate Our Naval City Festival which includes so many things on the day and celebrating Portsmouth 100.
