UNDER THE NEW MEXICO SUN An Exhibition by Chelsy Spicer of Spiced Ink @spiced_ink For Chelsy Spicer, New Mexico is more than a place—it is a lens through which she experiences the world. Since making the Land of Enchantment her home more than a decade ago, she has found endless inspiration in its vast skies, weathered textures, resilient landscapes, and quiet beauty. Working on found and natural materials—including horseshoes, bone, wood, and other objects shaped by time and use—Chelsy transforms the overlooked into something extraordinary. Her work is an exploration of renewal, honoring the stories embedded within each surface while inviting viewers to see familiar materials through a new perspective. Bold, colorful, and unmistakably rooted in the spirit of the Southwest, her paintings celebrate the intersection of nature, history, and imagination. Each piece reflects her belief that beauty can be found in unexpected places, and that even the most weathered objects still have stories left to tell. As part of Luna and Luz’s Art Migrates series, this exhibition highlights an artist whose creative voice has been profoundly shaped by New Mexico’s landscapes, culture, and enduring sense of wonder. Join us opening night on Saturday, July 13th from 4-7pm at Luna and Luz in Old Town ABQ 400 San Felipe St NW Suite D A big thanks to @visitabq for there creative business expansion grant that helped to make this all happen. A shout out to @kylienirelphotography for these drop dead gorgeous photographs. All of us here at Luna and Luz are taking a moment to look back on our hard work and we are looking through our @spiced_ink Mirror Collection to do it. We spread our wings wide these past few months to bring you a beautiful exhibit that we knew our community would appreciate. But we definitely wouldn’t be here without the hard work of Chelsy Spicer of @spiced_ink who brought the dang house down with this body of work. It’s delicate, colorful and full of life. It’s accessible to the community and it’s caught the eye of customers across the country. We are thrilled to have been the home of “Under The New Mexico Sun” and even though we say goodbye to this exhibit in just 1 more short month.. we will never say goodbye to the work of Chelsy Spicer. All of the works remaining will continue to be in our shop throughout the next year. BUT! This doesn’t mean you should wait to buy that piece you have been eyeing, these horseshoes are FLYING off the walls and these unique designs won’t be around forever. So stop in! Check yourself out in the mirror, buy that cute sticker and drop your jaw over this amazing exhibit. Up now through the end of August. Always available online. 🤍🤍🤍 by @spiced_ink
