TWO TOMS, 12 SECONDS, and one single bad ass Mossberg 28 gauge... sometimes it just goes down like that. Our Editor-in- chief @skipknowles smashed a gobbler at about 3 yards when it rounded a bush and expedition leader and Sporting Classics sales rep @kenbyers grabbed Skip's gun, leapt up and put the Tom's wing man in the freezer too. Exhilarating.

Mixed reports about turkey hunting all over the country, but South Dakota treated us well.

@apex_ammunition TSS changes the entire game about what we think different gauges of shotguns can do.

How did your turkey season go?

Our 14 yo hunting buddy Keaton Miller @keaaton_miller was calling to a flock of turkeys when the Man in the Brown Suit answered on the run. Keaton explained that the bear, apparently drunk and right out of hibernation , and knowing nothing about how to stalk a turkey, first rushed at the flock, scattering them without touching a bird.

Keaton knows a broken up flock makes it easy to call a bird but his yelps brought in this scary UNIT of a boar color-phase black bear instead of a tom! What a rush and way to have a steady hand, Keaton. We would have been screaming and running. Keaton's dad the Elk Man Mike Miller @mikemiller5338 and SC Editor @SkipKnowles called in a whopper bull elk for Keaton last year. Keaton was hunting with his teenage buddy Broxton and no one adults during this amazing episode. What a rush! by @sportingclassics

An important clip from Chris Dorsey's recent interview with Alaska Congressman Nick Begich at the SCI convention in Nashville, as they discuss how animal rights groups have become political fundraising tools for the left. Congressman Begich sits on the House Natural Resources committee with oversight of the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and joined Chris to discuss topics that resonate within the hunting community such as trophy import bans and how the USFWS can promote hunting and angling as global conservation tools. Look for his full interview with Alaska Rep Nick Begich in this week’s SCI Newsletter.

Pat Conroy once said, "The most powerful words in English are, 'Tell me a story.'" If only they could talk, what stories these majestic live oaks would tell.

They call it America’s premier sporting community. We call it home. Experience life at @braysislandplantation Schedule a visit, find your next home, and start living.

If muskets could talk, it would be fascinating to learn the history of this well-used Springfield rifle. Could it be a veteran of Bull Run that now finds itself in elk country? Its owner appears to be a mite young to be a Civil War veteran, but perhaps he inherited the piece form his father or another relative.

We don’t know where this ramshackle cabin might be located, but it appears to be sound enough to keep this young man warm and dry while he partakes in a little nip of “mune-shine” and some tasty elk steaks. He may call “Arkan-Saw” home, but this cabin has to be somewhere farther west. The last eastern elk found in Arkansas were killed out by the 1840s. Photo circa late 1800s.
