How are you celebrating this year? by @sr.michaelebarnes

Mid-year is a smart time to check in on your financial plan—especially if life has changed in the past few months.

At True North Advisory in Bowie, Maryland, we often see that major life events—not market swings—have the biggest impact on long-term financial success.

Here are a few moments that should prompt a review:

🔵 Career changes or income shifts – A promotion, new role, or transition can affect benefits, taxes, and retirement strategy.
🔵 Marriage or partnership changes – Combining finances impacts debt, investing goals, and long-term planning.
🔵 Divorce or separation – Adjustments to income, assets, and timelines often require a new strategy.
🔵 Birth or adoption – Growing your family means planning for new expenses and future goals.
🔵 Inheritance or windfalls – Sudden assets can create opportunity when handled with a clear plan.
🔵 Home purchase or relocation – Big housing decisions affect cash flow, debt, and overall financial direction.

If you’re a first responder, veteran, or service professional, these changes can come with added complexity—from benefits to tax considerations.

Have things shifted for you this year? Let’s talk about how your financial strategy should evolve with it.

Today, we’re honoring the fathers and father figures who lead with strength, service, and quiet sacrifice.

At True North Advisory, we work with many dads who show up every day for their families and their communities—first responders, veterans, and service professionals who understand what it means to put others first.

Father’s Day is a reminder to recognize not just what they do, but who they are—mentors, protectors, and steady guides.

To those celebrating, remembering, or carrying forward a legacy, we wish you a meaningful day surrounded by appreciation. by @sr.michaelebarnes

Inflation gets the headlines—but shrinkflation is quietly impacting your wallet too.

We’re seeing it more and more: same products, smaller sizes… and your budget stretches thinner without realizing why.

Here’s the difference:
• Inflation = prices go up
• Shrinkflation = value goes down (for the same price)

For families, first responders, and veterans we serve across Bowie and the surrounding Maryland area, both can chip away at long-term financial progress if left unchecked.

The good news? A thoughtful financial strategy can help you stay ahead of both. From smarter budgeting to tax-efficient investing, small adjustments can make a big difference over time.

If you’ve noticed your dollars not going as far lately, it may be time to revisit your plan.

Have you felt the impact of shrinkflation in your day-to-day spending?

It’s here! Are you ready for the next revolution of our monetary policy and system in United States of America?
Yes or No by @sr.michaelebarnes

Every June 14th, Flag Day gives us a moment to reflect on the history and meaning behind the American flag—and the values it represents.

At True North Advisory in Bowie, Maryland, we work closely with first responders, veterans, and service professionals who embody those same values every day.

Here are a few lesser-known facts about the flag:

• The current 50-star design was created by a 17-year-old student, Robert G. Heft, as part of a high school project—and it was later chosen by President Eisenhower.

• There have been 27 official versions of the flag, evolving alongside the growth of our nation.

• The colors carry meaning: red for valor, white for purity, and blue for perseverance and justice.

• Six American flags have been placed on the moon during Apollo missions.

• The current design is the longest-running in history, unchanged since 1959.

As a financial advisor in Bowie, MD, we’re proud to support those who serve and help them plan for a strong, secure future.

What does the flag represent to you?

Did you know millions of Americans are considered “credit invisible”? That means they don’t have enough credit history to generate a score—and it can make everyday goals like buying a car or securing housing more challenging.

For many first responders, veterans, and service professionals, this can be an overlooked hurdle during big life transitions.

Building credit doesn’t have to be complicated—but it does need a plan.

If you’re unsure where to start or how this fits into your bigger financial picture, our team at True North Advisory is here to help you connect the dots and move forward with confidence.

Have you ever run into challenges with credit? Let’s talk about it.

June is National Homeownership Month, and it is a great time to think beyond the purchase price.

Owning a home can be a powerful step toward long-term wealth—but only when it fits into your full financial picture.

At True North Advisory in Bowie, Maryland, we help first responders, veterans, and service professionals evaluate how a home purchase or refinance aligns with:
- retirement planning
- investment strategy
- cash flow and tax efficiency

A home should support your financial future—not strain it.

If you are thinking about buying or refinancing, our team is here to guide you with a clear, personalized strategy.
