Hi! I’m Sean!

After 15 years, I left behind my career as a software engineer to pursue a dream of mine. I am so happy and proud to have just completed my first 90 days as an Instructor Assistant with @canineorg !

While working in IT, I found Canine Companions and started volunteering as a puppy raiser. I immediately fell in love and completely bought into their mission of raising, training, and providing service dogs to people with disabilities, veterans, and facilities! Thanks to the generosity of so many volunteers and donors, we are able to do so free of charge to the recipients.

The people and dogs I have met along this journey have completely changed my life in just a short time. Feel free to follow along as I hope to soon receive my first string of dogs to work with! To find out more information or get involved, check out our website https://canine.org! by @sreberle

3 months in 🫣 and the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this:

There are 7 days in a week, and *someday* ISN’T one of them!

I can’t imagine my life without these people, these dogs, and this purpose now. For so long, I didn’t know any different because I was so afraid to make a change and of the unknowns. I can confidently say that nothing would make me go back and do it any differently. So take that risk, follow your heart, and chase that dream; life’s too short to wonder what if and you never know what’s waiting for you on the other side!

How has it been 2 months already?! Switching organizations, careers, and cities hasn’t always been easy, but it will ALWAYS have been worth it!

‼️‼️: I am so excited to finally share that I have accepted a role as an Instructor Assistant with Canine Companions! 💙🥹💛 While I’m sad to be leaving North Carolina, this role and organization are where my heart is at! In this role, I will be learning about how the organization produces high quality service dogs, while learning and being a small part of so many unique journeys towards independence! Thank you to everyone that has supported and cheered me on moving towards living out this dream of mine! I can’t wait to get started! 🐶 #CanineCompanions #ServiceDogTraining by @sreberle

Yale VI has officially matriculated to professional training! I am so proud of all he has done to this point, and I’m so thankful I was able to be part of his journey.

While I am sad leaving him behind after 16 months of puppy raising, hearing the graduate stories made it all worth it and reminded me why puppy raisers are so important. Raise a puppy, change a life (and your own!). 🐶💙💛🥹 #ServiceDog #CanineCompanions #Matriculation by @sreberle

14 months —> 14 days. 🥹

The countdown is on and I have so many mixed feelings y’all. I’ve had this silly, sweet, and super smart guy for the 14 months that I was supposed to already. I feel like I blinked and the time was up. 😭

This process, the organization, and the impact that Yale will leave on me is unexplainable! I have had and trained several dogs of my own and for others, but puppy raising my first puppy has been so special. If you find it in your heart to do so, I highly recommend it!

I can’t wait to follow his updates at professional training after turn in, and I’ll be proud of him no matter what! But for now, I’m going to enjoy the heck out of these last 2 weeks!

Raise a puppy, change a life (and your own too!)!
