Today, we take a significant step forward with the launch of #VindhyaSe – the #apex institution bringing all our FPOs under one umbrella brand. More than a shared identity, it represents a collective vision to strengthen these enterprises, deepen their institutional capacities and create greater opportunities for rural women to lead and grow together. Across four states, #SRIJAN set out to build strong women-led federations – institutions where women could come together, raise their concerns, challenge unjust social norms, address issues of #health, #education and #genderequality, and gradually take charge of decisions that shaped their lives and communities. From women mortgaging their jewellery to access loans and take their first steps towards #financialindependence, to those finding their voices, identities and places in community leadership; from questioning age-old practices to becoming decision-makers in their villages – the journey has been as much about transforming mindsets as it has been about creating #economic opportunities. And who would have imagined how far these women-led institutions would go? Today, this collective journey has reached a significant milestone, with 23 #FarmerProducerOrganisations (FPOs) and a gross #turnover of ₹12.99 crore this year. As #SRIJANites, it was our vision to see these women realise their potential, discover their strengths, and become the entrepreneurs they always had the ability to be. We began, we stumbled, we failed, and we tried again — each time with greater conviction. And today, as we watch these women entrepreneurs spread their wings and soar, we know our journey has come full circle. We have consciously stepped a little behind, not because our role is over, but because it is time for them to take the lead, find their own paths, and fly on their own. @collectortikamgarh I @jansamparktikamgarh @collectorniwari I @niwari_kisaanproducercompany I @collectorchhatarpur I @jansamparkchhatarpur_ I @jansamparkniwari_ I @collectorshivpuri I @projs_shivpuri I @ken_betwa I @shiprefpo #srijan #VindhyaSe #FarmerProducerOrganisations by @srijan_india
On the occasion of #NationalWomenFarmers’ Day, #SRIJAN organised agricultural meetings and field-level awareness activities across the #Badamalhera, #Bijawar, #Rajnagar and #Nowgong blocks of #Chhatarpur district, reaching 252 women farmers. The initiative focused on supporting women engaged in open-field vegetable cultivation and multilayer farming through practical guidance on safer vegetable production, responsible pest management and cultivation cost reduction. Women farmers were introduced to yellow and blue #stickytraps and pheromone traps to monitor and manage certain pests, helping reduce unnecessary pesticide applications when used appropriately. Guidance was also shared on the use of Sagarika as a plant growth promoter, along with demonstrations and materials to support practical learning. Pet wire was provided to help farmers support and manage tomato vines effectively. In Kachiyana village, a focused meeting was held with women engaged in vegetable cultivation, and contributions from 11 women members were deposited. In Jawab village, #multilayer farming plots were visited, and suggestions were shared to help farmers improve their practices. These efforts highlight the importance of accessible technical knowledge and field-level demonstrations in helping women farmers explore more sustainable, cost-conscious and less pesticide-dependent farming practices. When women farmers have access to the right information and support, they can lead positive change in agriculture. This National Women Farmers’ Day, let us recognise their knowledge, hard work and contribution to building more #resilient and #sustainable farming systems. Women Farmers at the Centre: Strengthening #Horticulture Through Nano-Orchards. Saurav Kumar Suman, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Director, Horticulture and Food Processing, Government of Madhya Pradesh, along with departmental officials, visited #SRIJAN-supported nano-orchard clusters in Heeranagar and Barmatal villages of Tikamgarh district. The highlight of the visit was the interaction with women farmers, who shared their experiences of developing nano-orchards, the challenges they face, the income generated, and the costs involved. Their perspectives brought ground realities into the discussion, helping identify what is working, what needs improvement, and what support is required to strengthen horticulture-based #livelihoods. Discussions also explored opportunities to expand #nanoorchards development, strengthen Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) for collective marketing, and improve farmers’ access to markets. SRIJAN is developing Horticulture Promotion and Production Clusters across #Chhatarpur, #Niwari, #Shivpuri, #Chhindwara and #Anuppur districts of #MadhyaPradesh, with the aim of creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for farming households. The visit opened up opportunities for collaboration with the Horticulture Department to scale up these interventions, introduce improved technical practices, and strengthen market linkages. For SRIJAN, women farmers’ voices are essential to shaping effective development solutions. When their experiences inform planning, and community initiatives are supported by government convergence, technical guidance and strong farmer institutions, horticulture can become a more viable and sustainable pathway to rural prosperity. @collectortikamgarh | @jansamparktikamgarh | @jansamparkmp | @horticulture_mp #SRIJAN #WomenFarmers #NanoOrchards #Horticulture #WomenLedDevelopment #FPOs #SustainableLivelihoods #GovernmentConvergence #Tikamgarh #MadhyaPradesh #FridaySparks by @srijan_india

What can 0.2 acre of land mean for a marginal farmer? It can mean food for the family, additional income, a productive asset for the future—and hope. Through the mango nano-orchard initiative, #SRIJAN established 4,250 mango nano-orchards between 2021 and 2026 across #MadhyaPradesh, #UttarPradesh and #Chhattisgarh, supporting marginal, poor and tribal farming families. The initiative spans: #Anuppur & #Chhindwara – Madhya Pradesh. #Chitrakoot – Uttar Pradesh. #Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur & #Jashpur – Chhattisgarh. The First Fruits of Change – 2026–27 Of these 4,250 orchards, 508 have started fruiting this year. The numbers tell the story: 103,466 kg total mango production 26,104 kg consumed by families 77,362 kg sold in the market ₹35.17/kg average selling price ₹27.21 lakh total income generated through sales ₹5,357 average family income in the first fruiting year 0.2 acre land area per nano-orchard For a marginal family, the first ₹5,357 from a young orchard is more than an income figure. It marks the beginning of a possibility where a small piece of land can become a long-term family asset and an additional source of annual income. 4,250 orchards planted | 508 fruiting | First income generated A mango tree takes time to grow. #SRIJAN was recognised by the District Administration, Shivpuri, for its contribution to strengthening village-level planning through the preparation of Five-Year Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) under the #MukhyamantriVrindavanGramYojana, an initiative of the Government of #MadhyaPradesh to transform selected rural villages into self-reliant and sustainable model villages. The DPRs and vision documents were prepared as a courtesy contribution at the request of the District Administration. Since 10 February 2026, the initiative has covered five villages across five constituencies of Shivpuri district: Chamraua, Jaitpur, Raishri, Ramgadh and Gurichha. The villages are envisioned as model "Vrindavan Grams" through integrated rural development, improved infrastructure, enhanced livelihoods and better quality of life through convergence of government schemes. With support from the Department of Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, Madhya Pradesh, and in coordination with the District Administration, Panchayats and line departments, SRIJAN undertook participatory assessments of livelihoods, natural resources, infrastructure, public services and development gaps. Through PRA and RRA exercises, including resource mapping, transect walks and discussions with women, farmers, youth and other community members, priorities were identified across agriculture, water, livestock, livelihoods, education, health, infrastructure and skill building. Based on community inputs and consultations with Panchayats and government departments, SRIJAN prepared village-specific five-year DPRs, providing an evidence-based roadmap for need-based development and convergence of government schemes. The initiative demonstrates how community participation, government convergence and evidence-based planning can help villages shape #selfreliant and #sustainable pathways. @collectorshivpuri I @projs_shivpuri I @jansamparkmp I @minprdd Story Credit- Neha Suman #SRIJAN #MukhyamantriVrindavanGramYojana #RuralDevelopment #VillagePlanning #ParticipatoryPlanning #GovernmentConvergence by @srijan_india
From Gram Swaraj to Viksit Bharat 2047 On #GandhiJayanti, we remember #MahatmaGandhi and his enduring belief in truth, simplicity, dignity, self-reliance and collective responsibility. His vision placed villages at the heart of India’s development, recognising the strength, wisdom and potential within rural communities. “Just as the universe is contained in the self, so is India contained in the villages.”— Mahatma Gandhi For us at #SRIJAN, this thought continues to hold deep meaning. As India looks towards #ViksitBharat2047, the transformation of rural India will remain central to building a developed, inclusive and resilient nation. At SRIJAN, our journey is rooted in #Dhyan, #Gyan and #Samaadhan—bringing attention to critical rural challenges, building knowledge and enabling communities to co-create practical and sustainable solutions. We believe that the pathway to Viksit Bharat must be built with #ruralcommunities, not merely for them. When communities strengthen their institutions, build #sustainablelivelihoods, manage their natural resources, empower women and take collective responsibility for their future, they become active architects of rural transformation. For SRIJAN, self-reliance is not simply an outcome—it is a process of enabling communities to recognise their own strengths, make informed choices and lead solutions that can endure beyond projects and funding cycles. As we remember Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj, we renew our commitment to working alongside rural communities to build a more #self-reliant, #resilient, inclusive and sustainable rural India—contributing to the larger journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047. #SRIJAN #GandhiJayanti #MahatmaGandhi #ViksitBharat2047 #GramSwaraj #SelfReliance #CollectiveAction #RuralDevelopment #CommunityLedDevelopment #RuralIndia #SustainableDevelopment by @srijan_india

On 29 September, the #InternationalDay of Awareness of #FoodLossandWaste, #SRIJAN recognise that reducing food loss is also about protecting farmers’ produce, hard work and income. Every harvest represents months of effort by farmers. Yet poor harvesting and handling practices, inadequate storage, grading and transportation, and market-related challenges can lead to significant post-harvest losses—reducing both the quantity and value of farmers’ produce. With funding support from @worldresources Institute WRI India, SRIJAN has undertaken this initiative in Shivpuri and Tikamgarh, #MadhyaPradesh, working with 65 Women Producer Groups (WPGs) representing around 1,300 farmers. The initiative focuses on groundnut, onion, tomato, ginger, turmeric, chilli and guava, promoting improved harvesting and post-harvest practices, low-cost solutions for sorting, grading, drying, packaging and storage, collective marketing, and stronger village-level systems for handling and managing produce. Early baseline findings indicate that harvesting is a major reported point of quantitative loss, while poor grading, handling and quality deterioration can further reduce market value. Tomato is among the crops where quality-related losses are particularly significant. Through this initiative, we aim to develop practical, affordable and locally owned solutions that reduce food loss, improve quality, strengthen value chains, and help farmers retain a greater share of the value from what they produce. Reducing food loss is not only about saving food—it is also about strengthening farmer #livelihoods, improving resource efficiency, and ensuring that more of the value created by farmers reaches their households. @worldresources Institute (WRI) I @wri_india I @collectorshivpuri I @projs_shivpuri I @collectortikamgarh I @jansamparktikamgarh I @jansamparkmp Story credit - Dr.Shiv kumar #SRIJAN #WRIIndia #FoodLossAndWaste #WomenFarmers #FarmerInstitutions #Agriculture #ValueChains #MadhyaPradesh by @srijan_india
On 18 September, #SRIJAN had the opportunity to welcome Christine Lippai and Violette Toffier from @wildlifefriendly Network Enterprises (WFEN) for a field visit to Marram and Gajandoh villages in #Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. The visit provided an opportunity to see how Wildlife-Friendly Agriculture (WFA) is being practised on the ground, interact with farmers and community members, understand local challenges, and explore the relationship between farming, biodiversity and wildlife #conservation. In Gajandoh, the team was warmly welcomed by the community. Discussions focused on human–wildlife interactions, challenges faced by farmers, and locally adopted mitigation strategies, highlighting how conservation and #agriculture are closely connected to everyday rural realities. At the WFA demonstration plots in Marram, the team observed a diversified cotton-based farming system featuring red gram as an intercrop, marigold as a trap crop, and castor as a border crop. The plots also showcased 10-bund plantation, vermicompost, and bio-inputs such as Jeevamrit and Paanch Pati Kadha. These field practices demonstrate how locally adapted approaches can support sustainable livelihoods while contributing to biodiversity and wildlife conservation. We thank Christin and Violette for the valuable field interaction and exchange of perspectives. @wwfindia I @wildlifefriendly Story credit- @varsha_roli #SRIJAN #WWF #WildlifeFriendly #BiodiversityConservation #SustainableAgriculture #Agroecology #ClimateResilience #CommunityConservation #WildlifeConservation #Mondaypositive by @srijan_india
