Finally, the moment you have all been waiting for: professional photos from Stanford’s annual Moonlighting Formal✨! If our students could wear formal attire instead of scrubs they would be too powerful! by @stanford.mspa
Recently some of our third year students completed a rural rotation at the Wind River Family & Community Health Care Center with Kathryn Martin, an Alumna of the Stanford MSPA program! We love to see students interested in practicing primary care in rural settings. In addition to learning from their preceptor, our students also had the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the state of Wyoming 🌄⛰️. by @stanford.mspa
In the spirit of Halloween, we asked our students about the spookiest part of PA school! 👻 Check out what they had to say! 🎃 by @stanford.mspa
Happy Monday! Let’s start our week with another student spotlight! Meet 🌸Lauryn🌸! Lauryn is from Dublin, California. For undergrad, she attended UC Santa Cruz 🐌 where she studied human biology 🧬. While in undergrad, she volunteered at Dominican Hospital 🏥 and was an officer for the Asian Pacific Islander Student Alliance (APISA), Morning Sign-Out (MSO), and Engaging Education (E2). She also served as a Lead Peer Educator for the Center for Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE), teaching students, staff, and faculty about bystander intervention, trauma-informed language, and consent 💜. She was later certified as a Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Advocate through the Center for the Pacific Asian Family. Additionally, she was a Rachel Carson College Peer Navigator for incoming transfer and frosh students 🧭 and a Disability Resource Center notetaker 📝. In the lab 🔬, she researched T cell proliferation and survival in mouse models in the Zuniga Lab 🐭, and prostate cancer cell proliferation and the effects of gene knock-outs on cancer outcomes in the Wang Lab. She also spent 2 years as a volunteer scribe at RotaCare East Bay 🩺 and shadowed in dermatology and neurology for a year 🧠. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz, Lauryn spent her time volunteering teaching ESL to adults 🤟🏼, working as a patient care volunteer with hospice patients 🤍, and tutoring kids in math and English 📖. She chose Stanford 🌲 because of its proximity to home, her desire to serve in the Bay Area 🌉, the emphasis on community care and advocacy, and the amazing cohort, faculty, and staff! When she is not busy studying, you can find Lauryn hiking 🥾, reading 📚, baking 🧁, or thrifting 🛍️. by @stanford.mspa

Attention🚨! We have another Student Spotlight for you this week! Meet 🌺Francesca🌺! Francesca is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For undergrad, she attended the University of Norte Dame ☘️ where she studied neuroscience 🧠 and anthropology 🏺. While in undergrad, she was a member of the D1 women’s rowing team 🚣🏻‍♀️. She also worked in a Development of Psychopathology lab where she was involved with research on parent-child interactions 🧑‍🧑‍🧒and emotional regulation in children with a history of maltreatment. During this time, she also tutored local elementary school children part-time 📚. After graduating from Notre Dame, Francesca worked for 2 gap years as a Dermatology medical assistant rooming patients, scribing, and assisting in procedures 💉. She also used this time to do some traveling to Italy 🇮🇹, Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Austria 🇦🇹 and Ireland 🇮🇪! She chose Stanford 🌲 because of the small class size, exceptional students and faculty, electives, and amazing location in sunny California 🌅. Attention🚨! We have another student highlight to share! Meet ☀️Natalya ☀️ Natalya is from Tacoma, WA 🌲and attended Pomona College 💙 in Claremont, CA for undergrad, so she considers herself a West Coast girl at heart 🌅. At Pomona, she designed her own degree combining Public Policy Analysis 📄 and Neuroscience 🧠 to study mental health policy. Outside of classes, she served on her student government’s Wellness Committee, sang in an intercollegiate acapella group 🎤, and worked as a biology mentor for genetics and immunology 🧬🔬 (whew!). After graduating, Natalya moved back home to the big city (Seattle) and spent 3 years working as a medical assistant in plastic/reconstructive surgery 💉, dermatology, and OB/GYN 👶🏼. She also presented an entire session on her senior thesis about trauma-informed schooling at the Association for Positive Behavior Support’s international conference 🗣️! Natalya chose Stanford 🌲 for its small cohort size, its emphasis on leadership and advocacy, and, of course, its proximity to home 🏠 . When she’s not studying, Natalya loves hiking 🥾, singing 🎶 , reading 📖 , and trying every new coffee ☕️ shop she can find. by @stanford.mspa
