Dr. HyeRan Choo, Section Chief of Craniofacial Airway Orthodontics, was the invited speaker for the 28th Annual Wilma and Earl Shepard Memorial Lecture at Washington University in St. Louis, October 26–28, 2026. She was invited by Dr. Azadeh Afshari (maxillofacial prosthodontist) and Dr. Ruth Tevlin (craniofacial plastic surgeon and @stanfordplastic Alumna).

The Wilma and Earl Shepard Memorial Lectureship features leaders in dentistry and medicine.

This year's lecture was a joint Grand Rounds of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery (@washumedent) and the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (@washuheadtotoeplasticsurgery). Leaders from the St. Louis Children's Hospital NICU, nursing, infant feeding, sleep medicine, and maxillofacial prosthodontics programs, along with faculty from the Saint Louis University Department of Orthodontics, joined in person and via Zoom. Discussions included plans to launch their own Orthodontic Airway Plate (OAP) treatment program in the coming year.
