Pretty stoked to photograph a Bigg’s orca perfectly lined up with Mt Baker 🏔️ I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my summer, than to be teaching people about these incredible animals.

We identified the orcas in slides 2 as the T123s, one of the famous matrilines in the PNW🫍🌊 We saw them as they were wrapping up a hunt, and heading on with their journey

ANOTHER eagle post because I just love these birds! 🦅

Not only are they huge and super smart, but they are so strong that THIS family has built a nest ~2km offshore on a channel marker! While all the other eagles nest high up in the trees, these ones have gone out on the water, far from other animals who are looking to snatch the eggs. 🪺

Go outside+ go listen to the eagles (the birds & the band of course ☺️) 🦅⭐️

On every whale watch tour I get asked “why aren’t we closer to the whales?”.

So here’s a friendly reminder about expectations when viewing wildlife, because animal comfort and safety ALWAYS comes before getting “the shot”. 🫍💙

Can’t complain when you spend the days teaching people about the incredible ecology in B.C 🤷‍♀️

After coaching for so long, I knew I’d have a hard time if my summers WEREN’T spent teaching people about something I’m passionate about. Instead of teaching tennis tactics, now I teach people about killer whales and their hunting tactics 😅🫍

A huge bonus is that I get to bring my camera along for every trip, and take pics of moments like this. 📸

Another beautiful day with the killer whales showing off their flukes 🫍 ⭐️

After a (presumably) successful hunt, these guys were tail slapping and playing with each other for a little while.

Fun fact: their flukes (tails) have no bones or cartilage, instead it’s made of strong connective tissues. These flukes help the killer whales travel up to 55km per hour!!! Crazy awesome animals.

*All photos and videos were taken with a zoom lens and from a minimum of 200m distance* Conservation and wildlife protection always comes before taking photos/vids of the animals 😆
