Stephen Beyer by Stephen Beyer

My debut solo album has released and I’m very proud to share it with you! I appreciate all the kind words and support I’ve received so far; Thank you!

Get cozy and stream it wherever you prefer! 🎧

Those who enjoy playing an album from start to finish will find the listening experience here satisfying. Cohesive melodies and themes follow throughout the tracklist with several songs ending where the next seamlessly begins.

There’s a full version of the album on YouTube that shows the 12 track’s individual cover art + insight into the creative process of each song. ▶️

Oscilloscopes Are Cool

They allow you to see physical changes in sound waves. Check out this sine wave squaring off as I’m pushing the TASCAM preamps into distortion!

The dissonance from these two half-step notes is so fun to watch change in nuanced ways as I turn these knobs. Stay tuned for more audio experiments. 🎛️🎚️

Akai 1710W Reel-to-Reel

Fixing up this Akai 1710W. At first the internal speakers wouldn’t sound and the volume/tone knobs were pretty staticky & intermittent. I need to open it up and clean + oil/grease it. Still, little guy is quite the machine!

I love how old tape machines each contain so much unique character. There’s so much to explore from tube VS solid state saturation & tape echo. Not to mention the whole recording to tape thing!

Although it’s a pain getting the dusty old machines to work, it’s been rewarding to explore them and the music passed onto us by baby boomers. 🎶 by @stephen_beyer_music

Reverse Mode C + Sunlight Dynamic Reverb - Pedal Pairs #019

For some reason I woke up this morning with the SEGA startup sound in my head… It’s been at least 2 decades, but I use to love playing sonic the hedgehog on my portable SEGA Game Gear system. There really is something to a good intro theme!

I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Robert Keeley of Keeley Electronics. We talked about artificial intelligence, food, & his awesome new octave fuzz pedal, OCTA PSI. What a blast! 🎛️

You can watch the full interview on YouTube.

Oh, and I love how you can see Aaron taking the photo in the reflection. 🪞
