POSTS STORIES REELS

I’m grateful to announce the release of my second album - Hey Child. 🎶💙🌊

It’s been ten years nearly to the day since my first album release and so much life has been lived in that time. These island soul songs are markers of my life - and are about the experiences and relationships most core to my existence - family, love, loss, God, death and everything in between. They were written during the storms and recorded from the waves of marriage and love, parental loss and grief, child birth and parenthood, moving states and returning home.

🕊️To my mother and father - thank you for showing me the way before you left and teaching me what it means to live life well.
❤️To my beloved wife @kmfujimura - thank you for your patience, support and love.
👶🏽To my children - thank you for showing me the meaning of Joy.
🏠To my brothers and sisters @jojoboi248 @khonow @indigeniusminds808 @_nalani_2ku @pohai.makamae - thank you for your goodness, example and grace.

The majority of this album was recorded live with a full band in American Fork, UT and Kula, Maui, HI and I have an incredible cast of unbelievably talented collaborators to thank.

To the outstanding team of artists whose souls and talents are imprinted on every ounce of this work - I love you and mahalo for your light.

It would bring me joy beyond measure to know it is playing in the background during your gathering with friends, ohana and loved ones. If it is - don’t be shy, take a little video and tag me in your story to enjoy with you all from afar.

Love you ‘Ohana. by @stephenhmusic

One of the most beautiful experiences was finding a musical pocket that I felt like I’d been searching for my whole life.

Unbelievably grateful to the immense talent that brought this song and many others on the album to life. @yarbrough_ashton @colindevane @brentcolby_music @makena.likethebeach @pohai.makamae @williethrills @jayaraise

We packed ourselves into the a cozy studio for three days and jammed out until we found the sweet spot with the key, tempo, swing and pocket.

After years in the studio I’ve found it true that there really is no substitute to the feeling that comes when stumbling upon magic with a group of talented people you respect and trust. It made me fall in love with live, full-band tracking all over again and we hope the magic permeates through to everyone who has been listening.

Love y’all so much for the immense support on this album “Hey Child”. Hope it fills you all with as much joy and love, as we felt making it.

Hope yall enjoy a snippet of what it was like tracking “Before I Die” live in Kula, Maui at @couturemusicpro

“Here comes the sun, a new day is upon us🎶 by @stephenhmusic

We all have a story and those stories connect us to each other.

Last week I held an accelerated version of my MeleCraft Bootcamp for @henrykaponofoundation On the Rise Artists. They were given a very limited time to write a chorus in pairs using the tools and process I use for songwriting. It was a chance to connect to each other vulnerably and explore their creativity in a new way.

This weekend 10/23-24 I’m celebrating 10 years since starting the program I wish I had as a kid thru @hakucollective and now my nonprofit @hapunaleo.

And I’m bringing it to my hometown in Kona! All levels welcome between ages 14-22. Registration still open! Sign up before it’s too late. Link in my bio.

🌺🎶 GOODTIMES TOGETHER! 🎶🌺

There’s nothing like watching our On the Rise artists feel the energy of the crowd, embrace the moment, and share the stage alongside Hawaiʻi’s music legends! 🤙🏽✨

Reliving the Goodtimes Together with Henry Kapono & Friends at Kahilu Theatre show finale, where our emerging artists had the opportunity to experience the magic of connecting with an audience and sharing their music across generations. 🎸❤️

These are the moments that help our On the Rise artists grow in confidence, find their place in Hawaiʻi’s music community, and truly shine. Because when we create opportunities for the next generation to learn, connect, and perform, we’re building a future where Hawaiʻi’s music continues to thrive.

And there’s nothing better than goodtimes together! 🌺🎶

Obsessed with this song by @rycooderofficial via @thebroslandreth • airing out some pre-show range practice from the back room of @kahilutheatre with @henrykaponofoundation • REALLY wanna do a live version of this and need a few harmony singers 🎤 a bassist 🎸 and a keys player 🎹 on the big island sometime November… comment or DM me if you are in town and maybe wanna cut a record? 🙏🏾🕊️🎶🌊
