I am very excited to share this post with you 🤩🎉: @summeracademy.at Stephie Morawetz (@stephiemorawetz ) | “On Ourselves. From Object to Interaction” | 20 July–1 August 2026 | Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzburg, Austria Contemporary jewellery has a problem: it’s stuck on pedestals. Beautiful, yes. But lifeless. Bodyless. Locked behind glass like a museum relic. This course puts the body back in. What happens when jewellery isn’t just an object but a relationship? When it only exists through movement, sound, skin, performance? What you’ll explore: → How material feels against your body → How movement transforms perception → What sounds emerge through interaction → Unexpected material combinations that break the rules Forget rings and necklaces. You’re creating something that only completes itself through presence, gesture, performance. The final work? Jewellery presented through photography or live performance worn, moved, activated. This is jewellery art that refuses the pedestal ⭐️ Scholarships deadline: 7 April 2026 Regular application deadline: 1 May 2026 For more info about the course, the application and scholarships click the link in bio → COURSES! • Credits Slide 1: Stephie Morawetz, “Same Shit”, Self-portrait with Necklace, Bird shit pearls (from the Shenkar jewelry department), gold plated, 2025 Slide 2: Portrait of Stephie Morawetz, photo by @franzjohann.kreativagentur Slide 3: Stephie Morawetz, “Fuck you, I am jewellery!”, Jewellery box, silver, velvet, 2017-2025 • #ContemporaryJewelry #WearableArt #BodyArt #PerformanceArt #summeracademyAT by @stephiemorawetz
The opening of the Eligius Preis exhibition at @mak_vienna was such a wonderful evening ✨ I’m very happy (and a bit proud) to share that I’m the poster girl for the show 😄 I was far too excited to remember taking pictures myself, so I’m incredibly thankful to my lovely friends who captured some moments for me 💛 📸 Photos by @ar_iane @elisabeth_habig @martina.bergerklingler 📍 MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna 🗓 Exhibition: 28 May – 29 June 2025 #EligiusPreis2024 #WearableArt #ContemporaryArt #ArtJewelry #Adornment #ContemporaryJewellery #Jewelry #Jewellery #Schmuck #ArtAndCrafts #AppliedArt #AngewandteKunst #MAK #Exhibiton by @stephiemorawetz
I am so honoured and thrilled that I won the Spur price of the Legnica Silver Festival for creative courage and uncompromising attitude! 🥰❤️ Especially because mourning and grief is such a personal topic and in my culture we barely speak about it. I feel very encouraged by you all that speaking about mourning isn't a weakness, it's a strength. Thank you all for you congratulations and love! And of course I want to specially thank the Legnica Silver Festival! ❤️ @legnica_silver_festival #prayerbeads #contemporaryart #artjewelry #adornment #contemporaryjewellery #jewelry #jewellery #schmuck #artandcrafts #appliedart #angewandtekunst #oneofakind #exhibition #performance #empathy #legnica #legnicasilverfestival #silverspur by @stephiemorawetz
Dead Sea mud, Dead Sea salt, Dead Sea cosmetics, Dead Sea minerals, Dead Sea spa products, Dead Sea shampoo and conditioner—these are just a few of the many souvenirs available from the Dead Sea. In my memory of traveling to Israel, the plethora of products derived from the Dead Sea was omnipresent, signifying a troubling trend: the Dead Sea is being sold off piece by piece. Nature itself has begun to reclaim this treasure, with the Dead Sea shrinking by about three feet each year. This relentless retreat makes it increasingly inaccessible, as the ground is swallowed bit by bit, reminding us of the impermanence of our natural wonders. Politically, the Dead Sea is shared by three nations locked in constant conflict. Yet, ironically, this body of water unifies them through their shared exploitation. This reflects a broader human trait: our universal tendency to exploit nature. In my work, iron symbolizes humanity and industry, while salt crystals represent nature. These salt crystals, soon to become relics of the future, embody the fragility and beauty of our natural environment. The interplay between rust and iron in my pieces symbolizes the countries with their cultural patterns and industries. As rust, born from the salt, grows on the iron, it poses a poignant question: will it create something new, or will it lead to destruction? The future holds the answer to this crucial question, reflecting the broader fate of our relationship with nature. #VONMO #seeding5thvonmocontemporaryjewelryexhibition https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/R7yu8p7voKxerQZwRdcHzg by @stephiemorawetz
TRIGGER WARNING: You will never get this hour of your life back… ⚠️ Yes, it happened! In August we hosted “The Graduation” PhD Lecture Performance - Class of 2026 and through these picture we want to bring you back with us today! So here a little throwback to the class and Open Studio performance by ‘The Stakes of Performing Knowledge’ the course led by Mirela Baciak (@mire_la_ ) & Denis Maksimov (@denis.a.maksimov ) which took place 3–15 August 2026 at the Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzburg, Austria. Storytelling might well be the oldest art form. Public lectures are a fundamental aspect of universities, public speeches are essential to politics, while narratives are crucial for the emancipatory potential of the arts. Rhetoric was a cornerstone in education until just a century ago, when the rise of scientific positivism side-lined the liberal arts. Does lecture performance have the potential to serve as a meeting point for critical humanities? 🌀 Through group sessions and individual consultations, the participants got the chance to approach their artistic practices anew and experiment with the medium’s agencies of plurivocality, disorientation, and estrangement vis-à-vis “the known”. Our aim is to create an environment where participants can think critically about their practices through a narrative lens. If you spot yourselves or one of your friends in the pics, let us know in the comment, we will add a tag! 💫 Stay tuned for more photos, previews and insights in the next days on our social media channels!   Photo credits 📸Susanne Garber (@susanne_garber )  • #summeracademyAT #lectureperformance #openstudios #artscene #artpractices by @stephiemorawetz

I am so proud and grateful that my work was part of Memento Mori – Memento Cura during the Lange Nacht der Museen in Munich. The exhibition shines a light on the situation of women at the end of their lives and those who care for them. Female biographies read differently. So does the end of life. My work was beautifully presented in the Herz Jesu Kirche. Thank you to curator Martina Salzberg @martina_salzberg_ for the thoughtful and sensitive curation, and to @gedokmuc and the Hospiz- und Palliativnetzwerk München for making this project possible. 242 pearls for 242 days — the number of days I cared for my grandmother. The experience of life and the subsequent period of mourning resembles a string of pearls to me. An endless cycle marked by repetitive or meditative beads and mnemonic rituals of grief and solace. Each bead of the prayer necklace is made from ashes, symbolising grief, but also cleansing and new beginnings. The mourning ritual begins hesitantly and becomes increasingly certain. The ash beads are crushed in the hand until only dust remains. The work consists of a prayer bead necklace of 242 ash beads and a performance video that depicts my ritual of mourning and renewal. The backdrop is a bedsheet that belonged to my grandmother. 242 pearls for 242 days Performance and prayer beads Ash, thread, blanket cover 2023/2026 A project by Hospiz- und Palliativnetzwerk München, @gedokmuc and Katholische Pfarrgemeinde Herz Jesu München.
