Well we have survived the great Arizona flood of 2026! Dottie and I watched the water rise all day… when it wasn’t down pouring we explored the creek back here in the dells… wasn’t ever more than a 15 minute break in the rain. When it was down pouring we embraced inside things to keep ourselves entertained… perfect time to break down the harvest! Jalapeño jam, baba ganoush, pesto, butternut purée, butternut soup, pasta sauce, and 25 peeled and cleaned luffas, 2 new songs, inside fetch, tug, go find it, 1 bully stick, and 2 peanut butter kongs later… we finally sat down. I hope everyone’s ok in the light of a new day! We just got back from a much-needed 5 mile hike by @stephthegriff

Delayed caption here! This is from yesterday, November 1st, looking at the Watson Lake Dam in Prescott, Arizona. High up from my neighbors’ property… we were down low watching the water from the spillway rise in our backyard. Scary day! Grateful for good engineers…a hundred some years later the dam held! by @stephthegriff

Birthday bikepacking trip! Finally got my bike rig dialed for overnights and long miles w Dottie! She runs the uphills and surfs in a milk crate on the downhills. It all started with one inspirational video and a message from John @mira_la_perra

So I cut some pipe covers/pool noodles to size and fit them around the crate, sewed a weatherproof/puppy paw proof canvas cover for that, hammered in some grommets and threaded it to the crate w p-cord. Zip-tied that to my new sick rack @oldmanmountainracks found an ultralight umbrella from @sixmoondesigns for rain and sun… attached that and made it removable to a pvc pipe I bolted on the back of the crate, added padding and a comfy cooling blanket, filled the treat pouch, got some ortlieb panniers, a kickstand from Ryan and a few other attachments he rigged up, spent a few weeks training Dottie in the crate, took some long rides over a few months and then loaded up and hit the dirt roads on the Mogollon Rim for what was an incredible holiday weekend!

When you envision something you want to do and it seems so far away… just work backwards, make a plan from that, keep checking off boxes and in time, however long it takes, it’ll happen. We’re so stoked to have a new way to travel and explore! Thanks to all these sweet people and bikepacking peeps for the inspiration and the outfit! @bikepackingcom is the real deal and I love everything they support and do for this sport! Grateful 🙏🏾🙏🏾♥️ by @stephthegriff

So much garden goodness today! And this is just a day 😅 All from tiny seeds. Science plus nature plus a caring human tender and protector… growing your own food, even just a little bit, is a feeling I think all of us need to experience.
