I’m SO excited to finally share what Woody and I have been working on! What began as a dream in 2015 is becoming a reality, and my heart is FULL. ❤️❤️❤️ For years, I’ve envisioned creating a platform to house signed music (ASL versions of beloved soundtracks) in one accessible space. A place where music, language, culture, and visual storytelling could come together to create something meaningful for our communities. In 2023, I became the 1st alumna of the accelerated Black in Business program through the Goldman Sachs and 1863 Ventures initiative, One Million Black Women. That experience helped strengthen the foundation of Songs To Enhance People Signing (STEPS by Kei-Che) and equipped me to keep building with intention. Nearly four years into this journey, the vision is coming to life! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 By the grace of God, we’re building something bigger than a platform. We’re building a bridge. Black Deaf students are at the HEART of everything we do. Their language, representation, cultural identity, and right to see themselves reflected in the world will always be central to this work. 🖤🖤🖤🤎🤎🤎 Accessibility should never be an afterthought, and learning sign language should never be a trend. It’s about building authentic connections, honoring Deaf communities, and creating spaces where everyone can learn, grow, and belong. 1st BlackDeaf Alumna of Goldman Sachs/1863 Ventures: One Million Black Women: Black in Business Initiative #stepsbykeiche #bridgingthegap #shiftingtheculture #asltomusic #BlackDeafStudentsMatter by @stepsbykeiche
Kicking off a new collaboration with San Francisco Deaf Services Center and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. Huge shoutout to Rachel and Jerry for helping create spaces where language, culture, and community can truly thrive. Come join me, Ms. Kei-Che, for a beautiful day of connection in San Francisco at ASL Family Storytime. This space is for families of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, CODAs, and signers of all levels to gather, learn, laugh, and experience the power of storytelling through ASL. Representation matters, and it means so much to share joy, language, and connection with our next generation. Come be in community with us as we celebrate Deaf excellence, BlackDeaf presence, and the beauty of accessible spaces for all families. 📍 Main Library – Deaf Services Center 📅 Second Saturdays 🤟🏾 All ages welcome See you there in San Francisco, where bilingual stories come alive and community grows. ✨ 1st BlackDeaf Alumna of Goldman Sachs/1863 Ventures: One Million Black Women: Black in Business Initiative #stepsbykeiche #bridgingthegap #shiftingtheculture #asltomusic #BlackDeafStudentsMatter by @stepsbykeiche
✨ I’m not out here trying to make my mama proud 😑🫠—- but little Kei-Che? She’s jumping up and down with JOY! 💃🏿 Big Kei-Che finally gets it: Black Deaf Students Matter. Representation. Representation. Representation. 🙌🏿 Couldn’t be more proud of our team, my babies, and every soul who drives near and far to join our ASL Stories & Songs in Livermore each month! 💖 Big love to Jude for sharing our story and now showing up for our Deaf-led events — that’s what community looks like! 🫶🏿 Forever thankful. Always LOVE. HEAVY on the LOVE. 🤟🏿🤟🏿 1st BlackDeaf Alumna of Goldman Sachs/1863 Ventures: One Million Black Women: Black in Business Initiative #stepsbykeiche #bridgingthegap #shiftingtheculture #asltomusic #deafmama #deafdoula #BlackDeafStudentsMatter IDs in the comments! by @stepsbykeiche
A few notes… 🤟🏿🖤 Yes, I’m congested 😂 but I’m stepping into more voiceovers. My voice is uniquely MINE, and I’m done being ashamed of it. A recent gig opportunity inspired me to sharpen that skill. Plus, I’m kinda funny! 😂 Now THIS moment! 🥹 The last time I encountered a signing Starbucks barista was in D.C. So to experience this in MY neighborhood, in today’s America? Talk nice to me. 🤣 As a Black Deaf woman, having my language respected shouldn’t feel extraordinary. But it does. And just like that, he gained a community mentor! He didn’t SAY he wanted to learn ASL. He just DID it. That’s inclusion. Not performance. ACTION. Less talking. More doing. Respect the language. Respect the culture. And speaking of ACTION… DID YOU VOTE?! 🗳️ If not, hit those polls TOMORROW! Our voices matter. Spoken, signed, AND at the ballot box. 🖤🖤🖤🤎🤎🤎 #BlackDeafStudentsMatter #BeKind #Access by @stepsbykeiche
Halloween 2026 Michael Jackson & Jessie 🖤🖤❤️❤️ The things we do for our children. 🤦🏿‍♀️😩😜 by @stepsbykeiche
When your job knows how to WORK HARD and PLAY HARD!!! 🙌🏽🔥 Our SARC Halloween Party was EVERYTHING!!! 🎉 From trivia and games to mummy wrapping, pizza, ice cream, and nonstop laughter… we had an absolute BALL!!! 🍕🍦😂 And guess what?! Ya girl, LITTLE BO PEEP, brought home 3RD PLACE in the costume contest!!! 🏆🐑💅🏽😂💕 But beyond the costumes, fun, and festivities, what means the most is being part of a team that continues to make me feel SEEN, VALUED, APPRECIATED, and SUPPORTED! ❤️ The SARC team truly knows how to make the workplace feel like FAMILY, and I don’t take that for granted! 🥹💖 And one more thing… Little Bo Peep didn’t just show up and show out…. SHE VOTED TOO!!! 🐑🗳️🇺🇸 I DID MY PART… DID YOU?! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 #LittleBoPeep #HalloweenFun #SARCFamily #IVoted #BlackDeafStudentsMatter by @stepsbykeiche
Much-needed Girl Time 🧡🧡🧡 One year later, three Deaf mothers, three beautiful journeys, yet one unspoken understanding. 🧡 Through the joys, the challenges, and the growth, we remind each other we’re never alone. 🧡 Rooted in Deaf Education, strengthened through motherhood, and held together by love, laughter, and the magic of simply getting each other. 🧡 Love y’all, my Sanderson Sisters! 🧡🧡🧡😘😘😘 by @stepsbykeiche
My girl turned SIX today, and baby, we did her a BIG one! ❤️❤️❤️ As sassy as she is, turning 6 was no different! From church straight to Toy Story magic, with food, games, piñata fun, pictures, and memories made to last a lifetime. 🎂🎈🤠 But beyond the birthday magic, my heart is full for a much deeper reason. ❤️ Two Deaf souls. Two generations. One beautiful, ongoing story of language, love, and legacy. 🤟🏿🤟🏿🤟🏿 One little girl surpassing language milestones and one former Deaf Education teacher who has grown beyond the classroom, remaining present in the lives of her former students and their families. Because teaching or going to church is never just about what happens inside four walls. Sometimes, the greatest lessons are found in the relationships we continue to nurture long after the school/church/work day ends. 🥹❤️ Representation matters. Language matters. And showing up matters. Whether you’re Jessie or Bo Peep, God has equipped you with a purpose. Be bold. Be kind. Serve faithfully. Pour into the next generation. And with God’s anointing guiding your STEPS 🥳, go forth and be the BEST version of who He called you to be! May our little girl continue to blossom, surpass every milestone, and grow up knowing that she is loved, supported, and surrounded by a community that believes in her. And may we never underestimate the power of a teacher/pastor/friend who CHOOSES to keep showing up. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 Because the real magic isn’t just in helping a child/person grow. It’s in building a legacy where the next generation can THRIVE. Happy 6th birthday, sweet girl! Keep shining, keep signing, and keep that sassy spirit! ❤️🎂 #DeafJoy #DeafEducation #DeafMentorship #RepresentationMatters #ToyStoryBirthday by @stepsbykeiche
