POSTS STORIES REELS

I had the privilege of speaking at the YPO Africa event held in Kigali, Rwanda 🇷🇼 - an experience I found truly remarkable. During the event, we delved into the complex world of biohacking, which combines science and art to improve human performance by enhancing vitality and strength.

Throughout my time in Kigali, I had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and exceptional group of individuals. From insightful discussions to shared meals and workshops, Saturday was spent in continuous connection and exchange with these remarkable people.

It was striking to witness not only the considerable business success present among attendees, but also the depth of their values and character!

A special thank you to the members of YPO Global, YPO Africa, and my friends at YPO South Africa, whose support and guidance helped make this possible.

Looking forward to the next one!

Are you tired, exhausted, and fatigued? 💤

Don’t make the mistake of reaching for energy drinks - they won’t help you in the long term.

Take some time to recharge and find ways to boost your energy naturally through electrolytes or a good source of quality caffeine.

What do you do to beat the energy slumps? Let me know. by @stevestavsza

When people hear “biohacking”, they picture ice baths, gadgets and 40 supplements before breakfast. 🧊

That’s not what I mean by it.

Biohacking is simply using science and data to make better decisions about your body.

Measure something, change one thing, measure again. That’s it.

Getting morning light is biohacking. Moving your last coffee earlier is biohacking. Getting your bloods done and acting on them is biohacking.

The most powerful tools are usually the least exciting ones. They just need consistency.

Stop thinking about health optimisation as doing more. It’s about doing the right things on purpose.

What’s the simplest change that has made the biggest difference to your energy? by @stevestavsza

Living to 100 is not the goal…

If it is, it’s time to rethink that, because living well until the end is the goal.

Lifespan is how many years you get. Healthspan is how many of those years you are sharp, strong and independent.

For many people, a decade or more separates the two, spent managing decline instead of living.

That gap is where longevity science is focused, and it’s where your daily habits have the most say. The sleep, movement and nutrition choices you make in your forties and fifties are what decide how your seventies and eighties feel.

So the question is not “how long will I live?” It’s rather “how well will I be living at 80, and what am I doing about it this week?” by @stevestavsza

Most leaders try to think their way out of stress. Your body responds faster to touch. 🫂

A quick pat on the back is over before your nervous system even notices.

Hold it for around 20 seconds and things start to shift.

Longer, warm contact is linked to oxytocin release, the hormone that helps calm your stress response and settle your heart rate.

Community is one of my 7 Pillars to Thriving for a reason.

Sometimes it only takes 20 seconds.

You can't fix what you can't see. 🔍

We all have blind spots. You might think you sleep well, but your deep sleep tells a different story. You might think you have recovered from a tough week, but your resting heart rate is still up.

You might think lunch is fine, until you notice the 3 pm crash happens every single day. Without feedback, we are guessing.

That's why personal health data is one of the most powerful tools you have.

Not because numbers change you on their own, but because they show you patterns you would never spot on your own, and help you make decisions that fit your own biology rather than someone else's plan.

The goal is awareness. Start with one thing, like your sleep or your recovery, watch it for a few weeks, and see what it's trying to tell you.

So, who's giving you feedback? And are you ready to listen?

The quickest fix is not always the quickest recovery. ⏱️

High performers love a shortcut.

A pill for the pain, a jab to get back on the field, something to keep the diary moving.

But healing is your body doing its own repair work, and some of the usual quick fixes get in its way.

Regenerative medicine flips the question. Instead of masking the problem, how do you help your body do the job it was built for?

That was the thread running through my conversation with @dr.akhan.

What I appreciated most is his honesty about where the hype outruns the evidence.

The sooner you start investing in your health, the better. ⚡

But if you are my age or older, it's never too late. Your body can regenerate in incredible ways.

Part of why this is on my mind is that I'm seeing more and more friends, family and clients struggle with their health, and more leaders telling me burnout is on the rise.

Here's what I've learnt: your mental, emotional and physical capacity is built on your biology.

What state is your nervous system in?

Do you know your hormone levels and how your stress hormones are behaving?

Do you have a plan for your sleep?

If you are a business executive, preventing burnout is the minimum. Sustaining your performance is non-negotiable.

Your skin often reflects what’s happening on the inside. ✨

What you eat, how much water you drink and how much inflammation your body is dealing with can all show up on your skin.

So look at your plate as well as your bathroom cabinet.

Try these tips for good nutrition that supports your treatment instead of replacing it. by @stevestavsza

People have fasted for centuries, long before it became a biohacking buzzword, and it's been part of my own daily rhythm for years. ⏳

Here's how I think about it.

When you give your body a proper break from food, it gets a chance to do some housekeeping. It shifts towards using stored fuel, your insulin sensitivity can improve, and your cells get time for their own clean-up process, called autophagy.

For many people, the first thing they notice is steadier energy, without the mid-morning crash.

But start at your own pace, perhaps just by leaving a longer gap between dinner and breakfast, and find what works for your body and your schedule.

Focus on what you are gaining, not what you are missing, and remember that fasting isn’t for everyone.

The perfect health routine might be what’s making you less healthy. 🤯

➡️8 hours of sleep.
➡️Hours of zone 2 cardio every week.
➡️Weights, sprints, and the perfect diet.

Miss one, and you feel like you’re failing.

In this conversation, neuroscientist @drtommywood made a point every high performer needs to hear.

Constantly telling yourself you are not doing enough adds stress, and that stress can cancel out the good you are already doing.

It’s time to think about health optimisation as less of something like perfection and more as consistency. by @stevestavsza

You would never invest without checking the return. So why train that way? 📈

A lot of busy leaders give their health whatever’s left over, like a rushed session here, a bit of stretching there, whatever fits between meetings.

The intention is good, but when your time is limited, it makes sense to put it where it counts.

Think of it like a portfolio. Strength training is your long-term holding, building the muscle that keeps you capable and independent as you age.

Think of your heart and lungs as the engine. Hard cardio keeps it running.Get both into your week, and you have covered the foundations. Everything else is a bonus.

Start small and put your first strength session in the diary this week, just like a meeting. by @stevestavsza
