Stick Mareebo and Zare Demus Productions Present: Dancehall Ting! Join us as we celebrate the vibrant journey of Dancehall music over the last five decades with our monthly event, Dancehall Ting! We’re excited to kick off the first edition on Saturday, October 10th, at Wax Music Lounge—the new home for Dancehall Ting. With the explosion of Dancehall and Afro-beats in the Melbourne dance scene, it’s time to create a space for the students of Jungle City Projects and other Dancehall schools across Melbourne to showcase their skills and passion for the culture. For the first three months, we’re thrilled to feature three resident DJs to cater to your musical cravings:   DJ Outsider: Quickly becoming one of the most sought-after DJs for Dancehall events. More Judgment: Flying in from Sydney, he’ll bring the original flavour with a set that includes classic 80s and 90s Dancehall. Heavy Congress is Day/night event steeped in Soundsystem lore and culture—a movement that spread from its Jamaican, Colombian and the world. After selling out at RISING 2022 , Heavy Congress is back for its third big dance —and this time it’s going to be a massive dance With I R ATION STEPPAS as our special guest. Six local crews made up of DJs, MCs and live performing artists—each wield colossal custom speaker stacks, bombarding the audience with bass, in a bid for the crowd’s seal of approval. A massive lineup of Melbourne sound systems, El Gran Mono,General Feeling , Heartical Hi Powa, System Unknown, and from Tasmania we welcome South Weight Sound System to Naaram.
No two sound systems are the same, it is true that no 2 sound systems are equal. Each sound system is built for its own unique sound, shape, looks and place in the sound system community. The sound system is built to give pleasure to the hands that built it and to the tribes that presents themselves in front of it for musical pleasures. Once you’ve found your sound, you will be dedicated for life. Whether its reggae and protest music, classic dub, electro and techno, or champeta Africana pumping from the intricately designed speaker stacks, one thing’s for certain: bass is coming and it’s gonna be big. #soundsystemculture #onelovemelbourne #bassheavyvibes by @stickmareebo
